It appears this location hasn't been reviewed in quite some time. We selected this location as it was about halfway on our trip across the country. It is not very convenient to the interstate at all. The neighborhoods you need to navigate to get to the park seem a bit run down. Upon arrival at the park, it was a pleasant surprise. It was neat, quiet, and well-kept. The variety of site locations was a bit odd but the pull-ins at the front of the park were just fine for us. The restrooms were clean... Read More

We didn't use the laundry area. This park has many good things going for it except for its inconvenient location.

This campsite was nice and pleasant when the other manager was there. This place is clean, and well kept. But the hospitality is horrid. I use a Horse Trailer once or twice a month when I come up there, on this review it ask RV/Camping Type and Horse Trailer is listed, but on my way home today I received a phone call stating that I could no long stay there because I was not using a RV. No problems the past 5 years since I have been staying there. The restrooms and laundry are coded, and the office... Read More

The restrooms and laundry are coded, and the office is closed before all campers arrive, leaving a family with little children not able to get into the restrooms, but I was luckily to be there to help them out with the code.....So if you "DON'T" have a RV then I suggest not staying at this place. Matter of fact STAY CLEAR

Quirky might be the best word to describe this park. It has a layout that is as diverse as its occupants appear to be. Some units parked off to the side as you enter, others in a long line across from a sports field, and others parked on the field. It's also a bit difficult to find. However, the park is clean, sites pretty level, utilities easily accessible, and it's quiet. The restrooms are dated, but large and clean with good water temp and pressure (adding to the park's quirkiness was one... Read More

The laundry room was conveniently located, clean, and machines decently priced. Host was friendly and welcoming. Not your typical RV park, and doesn't have the amenities or character of many, but well-maintained and definitely worth an overnight stay. Very conveniently located to the President Truman historical sites.

We stayed here one night. The first contact was pleasant when we called late. The second person in the office was very pleasant and informative despite being busy. The camp site was large and in the city center. Convenient to lots of historic sites. The camp is diverse... Overnight stays, extended stays for tradesmen working projects, and vacationers. The place was well kept. Great water pressure. Shower area was large and very functional, hot water was great. Off to our site was a pretty park... Read More

The only downer was the site had to be backed into.

The campsite is well maintained and staff is friendly. TV and WIFI was good. Even though there was a train heard at night, it was not bothersome. Only spent 1 night there. Would go again. Small but good for an overnight stay.

This was a very pleasant place to stay. The train engineer used a quiet whistle a couple of times but up was not offensive. Follow the directions on the website NOT the GPS to avoid sharp turns. Good location for touring Independence.

Cold and miserable Easter weekend. Overall the camp is nice. For being in the middle of Independence it's quiet and we felt quite safe. Neighboring campers were courteous but I believe about 90% of them were long term campers. We saw no kids and only one pet. Pads are concrete and all 30 are full service with plenty of room to maneuver your RV. Each pad has a picnic table but there are no grills at any of the sites. Pads are concrete and all 30 are full service with plenty of room to maneuver your RV. Each pad has a picnic table but there are no grills at any of the sites. It was too cold to cook out but for summer camping the lack of a grill would be disappointing. There is laundry onsite and the staff is friendly and helpful. We had trouble getting the WiFi to connect but didn't pursue it with the staff since we were gone visiting family most of the day. Restrooms were the big disappointment. We have a small RV so wanted to take advantage of the room for showers. They are large with plenty of plug in's and mirrors. First night it got below freezing so we didn't hook up our water. At midnight I went to the restroom and it smelled like #2. Guests not flushing the toilet. This is guest courtesy much more than maintenance issues. However, Showers had Q-Tips, band aids, hair etc. on the floor on Friday AM and they were still there Sunday AM. By Sunday several stalls were close to being out of Paper. Weekends normally have increased usage and, I feel, also warrant a bit of increased service. There is no playground for children but there is a large grassy area for kids/dogs to run.

Stayed in the campground for one week. The park was clean and maintained. The concrete pads and hook-ups were excellent. Laundry facilities clean and inexpensive. Great place to stay while touring Independence and Kansas City areas. The train whistles are frequent, but after one day you don't really notice them and become accustom to the sound. Look forward to returning for another visit.

The resident manager is a plus. Nearly all sites are back-ins. There is a busy mainline RR track about 3 blocks away and a track adjacent to the park that may not be used at night. The area appears to be a public park but is actually owned and maintained by a local church. The designated entrance on W Pacific is a sharp turn up a steep incline if coming from the west. Entering from S Pleasant may be easier for some.
