This is a nice little campground near St. James and Meramec State Park. I called ahead to confirm site availability due to their close proximity to the park. The drive from I-44 to the campground is through St. James and down scenic Highway 8 about 5 1/2 miles. We checked on at the store/office located just inside the entrance. Most of the campers appeared to be seasonal, but there were some sites available for travelers passing through. Our site was a gravel pull-through and long enough that we didn't need to unhook our boat. The site had a small concrete pad with a picnic table. There were fire rings available. There was a large turn-around at the end, making it easier to maneuver larger rigs. The store had a few items for sale, including fishing gear. The pool was located next to the store, and the bathrooms were located inside the pool area. When we checked-in, we were given a numerical code for the lock on the bathroom doors. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and well-kept. The people operating the campground were pleasant and treated us well, and thanked us for our business. We would stay here again.

I rarely write reviews but I have to comment on our recent experience with this RV park. I love rules and restrictions. I really do. It helps keep a campground clean and the riff raff warded away. However, rules can also become ridiculous. This facility has a list of rules a mile and a half long. Here are some of my observations based on our weekend trip: 1) No tents allowed. We were not told this fact when we made our reservations. We have a Shasta Compact (13' x 6.5') and had three children, four doxies and two adults. 2) Bathroom door to remain closed at all time (coded for use by paid campers only). Great idea if you have ANY type of ventilation. It was 94 degrees outside on Saturday but the weather app said "it feels like 104." I am not exaggerating when I say that it was hotter and more humid inside the bathroom than it was outside. I understand some facilities do not have air (State parks and Corps). HOWEVER, they have some type of air moving around a little or even have little screened windows at the top of the ceiling. The ventilation in these bathrooms was not working at all (fans sounded like they were running but were not doing anything). Then the owner, when my mother commented that they were very hot, said that it was IMPOSSIBLE to add air conditioning to them. Do not LIE to a woman who owns a heating and cooling business. You can add air to anything, it just takes money. If you aren't going to add air, at least have the decency to fix your ventilation or add windows. Especially when we paid $30 a night for two people and an additional $6 for the three children and we rely on your bathrooms for all our bathroom needs (since we don't have access to any with our trailer). 3) None of the fire pits have a grille on them for cooking. When we asked, we were told they kept getting stolen so they just don't offer them anymore. You can buy them in the store for $14. Why do they not have some type of check-out system for a grille? 4) If you wanted to use their community room, good luck. It was full of motorcycles. Motorcycles that cost money to run instead of fixing stupid bathroom exhaust fans. 5) No ATVs or bicycles. Really? No bikes?? 6) Even though their handout that has the RV park map and rules on it states that you can pay $2 during the week to swim in their pool without being an overnight guest, their rules inside the store say otherwise. No pool use without being an overnight guest. 7) Many of their trees have died in one part of the park and were cut down so there are now very few shaded spots. Be sure to check out your site before accepting it. If you have a tin can, you are in for a sweaty treat! 8) Absolutely no drinks (no beverages of any type, even water, according to their sign) in the pool area. 9) No soap or paper towels in the bathrooms. While I come to expect this from State or Federal campsites, when a bathroom area is restricted by a coded door, it would be nice to have at least an air dryer for your hands (like State parks usually have). Nope. Nothing. If you only have an RV (with all amenities) and prefer to pay all-year round fees to keep your RV there (the owner actually told me they prefer not to have weekend campers and are trying to do away with their daily rental sites), then you should be okay. The campground (why say that?? It's an RV park, not a campground) is very clean. You will have to ask for the WiFi password when you check in because they are not likely to offer you anything additional unless you ask for it. Good luck figuring out their store hours because they aren't posted anywhere (although the giant list of rules were easily spotted) and the owners were only in after 3 pm on Saturday.
