We have only the very best to say about our stay at Shady Brook. We left our stay absolutely glowing and will return next time we pass through the area. From the friendly check-in, delivered ice and firewood, and well-groomed grounds, it was clear that we were not viewed just as customers, but as welcomed guests. It’s a small campground, with a nice playground in the middle. Easy access to water hoses nearby to sites. We’re fairly new RV-ers, and as fate would have it, we had a couple technical... Read More

We’re fairly new RV-ers, and as fate would have it, we had a couple technical issues at set-up. The camp owners went above and beyond to do what they could to help us figure out how to get things working.
We enjoyed the above ground pool after the long warm travel day!
They are adding to the campground - more campsites, bathrooms/showers, and an in ground pool.
Great stay!

The drive off the highway was bad...gravel, dusty roads all the way to and into the park. Then the park winds up being right next to the noisy highway. The dump station is literally on a hill. The site was long enough for our 41ft unit, but very narrow. Couldn't open awnings and fire pit was way too close to be safe. The curved hill going into the campground was rutted and made it hard to go up the hill with the big unit. On a good note, bathroom was clean. The playground looked very nice and it... Read More

This small campground gives campers serenity and calm from busy traveling and business endeavors. Everything is clean and extremely well maintained. The trails are fantastic. Owners and groundskeeper were superb. It was great to visit with them. There are great advantages to being in this remote, yet not remote, campground. It is within easy drives to various towns and activities in mid-Iowa. It is great..
Very clean and tidy park. Very nice and accommodating owners. Pool was unavailable due to recent stormy weather, but appeared to be nice. New structures and bathroom very clean (has a heater, but didn't have to use it). Great shower! Enjoyed hiking around on the property. Good ideas on the dump (pad and extension hose already there), but since on hill did not completely empty the downhill tank. Yes, freeway noise, but beautiful trees and surprising "hollow" setting. Gravel road a dusty surprise... Read More

They are trying here. Pros: clean restrooms, new playground structures, mowed walking paths, fairly level sites, creek, natural setting. Cons: loud highway noise, tightly spaced sites, no water hookups, inconvenient dump station (on hill), office reeks of cigarette smoke, have to fight for Good Sam discount. The sites are so close, it would be hard to walk between them/around your own camper if you have neighbors. There are no pull-through sites, and it is tight for backing in. I was charged... Read More

The sites are so close, it would be hard to walk between them/around your own camper if you have neighbors. There are no pull-through sites, and it is tight for backing in. I was charged full price even with my Good Sam card--had to ask 3x to get only a partial refund of promised discount. Unclear where to put garbage--unmarked. There's no toilet stall, so one has to wait to use the toilet if someone else is in the shower. The water connection available for refilling your tank looks dirty--we did not want to use it. To get to the campground, you have to drive miles down a dirt road and still end up camping beside the interstate, which is loud all night.
But the place, being new, is clean. Bathroom was clean. Kids will love the short wooded paths. Birds are plentiful, along with rabbits. We saw deer on the property. This place is in a beautiful natural setting. The owners are trying--this could become a great place (though it will always be next to the highway).

New Good Sam park as of April 2018. Friendly owners, nicely maintained park. Not larger motor home friendly...directions on website brought us in over 1.5 + miles of dusty gravel roads (not good for our toad) when another better route was available. Roads in park are very steep and winding. Online reserved spot was switched by owner at registration to a spot that rig could not be safely leveled (another spot was provided). Electric only (30 amp) at site- website vague on hookups. Dump station... Read More

FANTASTIC!! Shady Brook is meticulously maintained, with a meandering brook that runs throughout the property. Spacious sites, and a brand new bathhouse. The owners are amazing and very accommodating. This Campground is truly a little slice of Heaven.
