We stayed 13 nights at Blackwell Island and enjoyed our stay here. Two key reasons are the proximity to downtown and the marina/beach in the park and a beautiful setting with the hills across the street where the sun sets. At the same time, the only bummer is the proximity to the downtown and marina - unusually loud road noise from the highway and construction noise at the marina most days. At the same time, the only bummer is the proximity to the downtown and marina - unusually loud road noise from the highway and construction noise at the marina most days. Didn’t really concern me but could be concern for others who are noise sensitive. The check in process was quick and the office staff were very personable. In fact all of the park staff we encountered always had a smile, hello, or a chat. The sites were gravel and had a picnic table with a little grass (dependent on the state of the sprinkler) with a nice variety of trees throughout the park. I had no issues with the utilities and the WiFi was pretty good except at peak hours (15 down 5 up mid-day). Verizon was strong (75 down and 4 up) with some tower congestion around 9 pm while T-Mobile was weak at 5 down and 4 up midday. The main road of the park were paved with the inner roads gravel. The beach was very nice, there were walking trails, and the park is dog friendly. Different from many other places we have stayed, the longer term resident sites were kept up and in fact, were some of the best looking ones. For the kids, there is the beach, a small playground and a place to ride their bikes off road. All in all, it is a good place and would stay here again in the future. My rating would be a 4.3 but had to round down for the review platform.

This park has a great location to experience all that CDA has to offer. The park is located right at the mouth of the Spokane River that acts as the outlet for the lake. They have a beach area and boat docks that give direct access to the lake. The majority of the sites in the park were pull through with back in sites arranged around the edges of the park. The sites are gravel and each has a picnic table with a small grass area. There are a few trees scattered around the park, but most sites... Read More

The bathrooms and showers were clean and the wifi worked. See our pictures and reviews at our blog at thegilliamsisland.

Okay. we read the reviews, but came here anyway. We should know that reviews are provided for a reason. Still, we felt since we travel through this area often, we needed to try this place. We did, and we won't be coming back. It doesn't matter where a park is located, or how expensive it is. It can still be a bad park. This place is very expensive, mostly because it's in Coeur d'Alene. We get that, and would again pay the price, if it was nice. However, we've stayed in parks that were half the price,... Read More

We did, and we won't be coming back. It doesn't matter where a park is located, or how expensive it is. It can still be a bad park. This place is very expensive, mostly because it's in Coeur d'Alene. We get that, and would again pay the price, if it was nice. However, we've stayed in parks that were half the price, yet much, much nicer. The roads and pads are gravel. sort of. They haven't been graded or replenished in years, so it's mostly dirt. They are extremely narrow. so much so that I almost couldn't make the turn down our "road" or into our space. Had there been rigs behind or beside us, I couldn't have squeezed in. The spaces are also so short that we couldn't get our rig and Jeep tow both into our space. Each had to hang over into the roads that were already too narrow. Of course, everyone else has the same issue, parking out in the road. That only exacerbates the problem. Although the utilities are conveniently positioned, the patio side consists of mostly dead grass and weeds, and is very small. Although the park has 3 wifi towers, reception is terrible and it is too slow to even get email. Everything times out, so don't plan on doing much of anything with the park's wifi. If you ignore the reviews and decide to come here anyway, bring your own hotspot or use your phone. This park probably stays reasonably full in the summer months, mostly because of its location. Families with kids will pay to come here just to be near the water, even though this "family friendly" park charges yet another $5 for every person exceeding. get this. TWO! It's unfortunate that such a prime location is wasted on such a mediocre park, especially when one would expect to find a true RV "Resort" here. It is what it is. You've been warned. If you decide to spend the big bucks to stay here, don't expect much bang for your buck. It's just not here. We were VERY disappointed!

Beautiful place, terribly mean people running it. If you have a mega RV, no kids, and are over 60 maybe its your kinda place. Anyone else and your a second class citizen. And ooooh, even if its the only shady place on a 90+ degree day, don't you dare sit on the wrong side of your RV or they threaten to kick you out. I am 53 with a 1966 Aloha and have been camping my whole life and have never come across a park with such rude staff attitudes. I guess it is private property and thus they can do as... Read More

I guess it is private property and thus they can do as they please, but don't expect me or anyone I know to ever.... ever...ever.... go back to this place. I'd rather sleep in a Walmart parking lot. Oh, and $25 bucks for a boat spot- more than 1 person and it sinks and don't you dare hang out on your boat after dusk or your yelled at and told to leave. And one last fun tidbit... after my Family Reunion was over (had to apologize to my whole family about the whole deal), I had to get my boat moved even though a string of super strong thunderstorms was coming (I checked radar after seeing the black coming)..... they could have cared less.... if after 12:00 checkout, that will be another $25 dollars please. It is a great spot.... I live in Coeur d'Alene and wanted to support a local business for my reunion, and is beautiful right on the river. But at some point in life you have to ask, "Is staying in this place and supporting these mean people the right thing to do?" I hope those of you who read this say 'No!" I support businesses that treat me well and with respect. There are other parks in the area, and while I have not stayed there, I hope you will give them a try and send a message to Blackwell Island RV park that your not my kind of place. Maybe they'll eventually get the message and change

We spent one night there on the way to Washington. The office was open later than most RV parks. When we had an almost flat tire, staff attempted to put air in it to help us get to the recommended business in town. Were unable to do so, but appreciated the assistance and specific directions to the tire store. It would be a fun place to stay to use their water activities.

We have been to Blackwell Island a couple of times previously. Very nice campground, first class facilities, and, most important, exceptional staff. The grandchildren placed this at the top of places to return. Close to downtown, protected swimming in the river, lots of play areas, level sites and quiet.

Very nice park, however wi fi and cable tv were terrible.
