The location is great, and the area is very nice. Main issue is they have you cramped in like sardines, we were in a pull thru site, plenty long and plenty narrow. I had read about how tight the spaces are in another review and figured it couldn't be that bad but it is, maybe 3-4 feet between your site and the neighbors. There are some spacious sites and sites along the river but those must be reserved for the folks that plan on being there all summer or the majority of it. The roads within the park are narrow but you can navigate through them. I think this park is best suited for small 5th wheels and travel trailers (we were in a 36' motorhome). On a positive note, the park and tenants are very pet friendly, almost seemed encouraged. Fishing is advertised but there are 2 locations to access the river if you can't get a riverside pad (and you won't get a riverside pad unless there for the summer or longer), one entrance was okay, however, during our stay the river was very low at that entrance, the other one was snake infested (not sure if poisonous or not, did not try to find out) and no signs to warn you. The bathrooms were fairly clean and are very dated, they are mobile style bathrooms (set up to be permanent) and not a permanent structure as in most RV parks. Given the price and the how full the park was, seems to me that some of that money could go back into the park and the bathrooms renovated and maybe enlarge the campsites, there is plenty of room for expansion. Would I stay here again, probably not, and don't get me wrong, the staff and folks staying there all super friendly and nice, no issues there, just didn't like being stuffed in a spot.

This beautiful campground deserves a 10 for facilties, not the 7 Good Sam gave it! In fact we'd give it a 10/10/10, but we didn't use the restrooms due to Covid restricitions--didn't need them anyway, we have our own. The people who run it are lovely and welcoming, the site is so gorgeous--under towering trees right on the Rio Chama (that's the Chama River for non-Spanish speakers!) and at the scenic bridge that the historic Cumbres and Toltec narrow gauge train uses. Everyone turns out to wave every time that train goes by. (It's the highest and longest narrow gauge RR in the country and worth a trip). Big rigs fit fine, as do travel trailers and no one feels crowded. Lots of visitors stay for long periods in the summer because it is so beautiful. Cool high mountain air in the summer. We loved our stay and plan to return often. It's quiet, peaceful, very scenic, and a must for your gotta-visit list! You can easily walk into the historic town of Chama, and dine well, visit cute shops, and ride the train. Fly fish the river, too, if you get a license. Trout!! It's definitely a 10/10/10 in our book!

My bride and I had the most enjoyable stay at Rio Chama RV!! We stayed 5 nights, near river, played some music (guitars) sang and met the Nicest People! Hookups were neat and sites extremely clean. We made reservations for next year! Jerry & Joyce

We only got to stay 3 nights but we loved our time at Rio Chama. The staff were helpful and friendly. It was a very pet friendly park. Upon arrival they gave us dog treats for our dogs. So now the dogs insist we have to visit this park again! They even had a dog park which was great. The restrooms were closed because of Covid but we used the facilities in the RV. There were a few flies and a very friendly yellow jacket. I finally coaxed my Great Dane into the river for a drink. There were several humming bird feeders and lots of humming birds. We will definitely return to this park!

I love the campgrounds. Each one was very spacious with sewer, water and electric hookups. The RV spaces were nice and big. Everyone were so nice and friendly. I can't wait to come back again next year.

I cannot speak to the restroom facilities because they needed to be closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I assume that they normally hold up to the very good standards we observed throughout the camp ground. Friendly folks, lots if trees, flawless electricity and water hookups. Our site was spacious for our 21ft class trailer and vehicle. Quiet ambiance with decent privacy at our site (#15). Pet friendly with off-leash dog area. Access to the river and immediate proximity to Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, which we loved. Great photo opportunities of the narrow gauge steam train. We will be back!

Very nice park. The grounds are really nice and well kept up. It has many tall trees and riverside camp spots. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. The scenic narrow gauge railroad is adjacent which is another feature. All in all a very nice spot we highly recommend

Great staff. Excellent location. If you like peace and quiet, with the exception of a few barking dogs, this park is right for you. There were not many children, but it's hard to say if that's always the case. The park is only a 1/4 mile or so our of Chama, and very near the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic RR. The train passes through the park at least twice a day, so be prepared for whistles from the steam-powered locomotives. We love this park.
