As a preface, my family has been staying at this location since I was a child in the early 80's. I have to point out that over the years, the site itself has only gotten better. They have had a few expansions over the years and each time the campsite is able to accommodate more and more campers. While most sites that they are adding are back ins, they are extending down the river so that you're not getting further away from the fishing. They have had a few expansions over the years and each time the campsite is able to accommodate more and more campers. While most sites that they are adding are back ins, they are extending down the river so that you're not getting further away from the fishing. This location is below the Greer's Ferry Dam which provides cooler temperatures than the surrounding area year round. When we were there in early July, we didn't have to run the a/c hardly at all due to the fact that the river water is fed off of the bottom of the lake and provides almost a blanket of 60 degree air, in fact at night we were donning our light jackets and getting close to the fire. The location is great if you're there after the Rainbow that are stocked in the river from the nearby hatchery. You can literally walk down from any site to the river's edge. If fishing isn't your whole family's goal, you can go up top to the lake to enjoy swimming, boating, etc as well as foray's into heber springs to see the old Hot Spring baths or even the location of the last major speech he gave prior to JFK's assassination in November of '63. The newer bathroom facilities are great and well-maintained. There are playground and pavilion spaces. There constructed stairs, bridges, and paths that take you down to the river. I agree, looking through the rose-colored glasses of memory I may be overlooking blemishes, but my wife and small children also had a blast and didn't seem to have any complaints of note. (If you are going for the fishing, you need to watch the weather leading up to the time you go, if there are heavy rains for extended periods, the dam will have to release water near constantly to keep the lake levels safe.... should that be the case, you will have much reduced fishing as the speed of the current and the height of the water will prevent all but the most dedicated angler.
