Very nice campground. Most sites have electric, water AND sewer. Did not use the restrooms but they look like typical state park facilities. There a few sites on the lake. All sites are gravel and somewhat level... The lake is surrounded by state park /forest so it is very quiet with little boat trafffic (during off season). Sites 29-32 are affected by a bright light at night that is near the dock.

Stayed here twice, once on our outbound trip and the second time on our return. We had a pull-thru site the first time and a back-in on the return. The pull-thru was a little difficult to find but, then again, it was 01:30 in the morning. We woke up the following day to find that we were in a site located on a rise that over-looked the beautiful lake. That was what convinced us to stop here again on our return trip and spend a little more time here. The back-in site was easy to find and easy... Read More

Can't comment on kid or pet friendliness since we didn't have any. Nor did we need to deal with management or rangers but the overall feeling was one of competence and peacefulness. The on-line reservation process was simple to do and it seemed that almost any site would have been a good choice. We would definitely stay here again.

1st stop on our way out West, and it was a good one! This state park is a little far off from I-40, but worth the drive. Beautiful lake nearby without too much "lake life" activity going on. Pretty peaceful. The sites are abundant, but spaced out from each other enough to prevent clasterphobia. Nice, large bathrooms, clean with showers. We would definitely stay here again.

Our home away from home campground. We love it here. Beautiful scenery with great Rangers and employees. Nice updated sites with 50 amp and full hook ups. Internet service is a little spotty but who needs it with this place. This is not your typical state park. It has nice size slips. Some pull through sites. Nice clean bathrooms. Just a few minutes from downtown Lexington where you can get anything you need. All around best state park campground around.
