The Benbow KOA is the 66th stop for us and stayed overnight - review is not based on use of amenities and facilities. The office staff were pleasant. There was decent space between sites and the road noise from 101 was fairly light after 9 pm. Overall first impression is this is a tired/old KOA (and we have stayed at many KOAs). This was the first time I felt like parking the 38 ft. rig was a square hole/round peg maneuver with the narrow approach road, the narrow pad (only 1 foot variance on either... Read More

This was the first time I felt like parking the 38 ft. rig was a square hole/round peg maneuver with the narrow approach road, the narrow pad (only 1 foot variance on either side) and the utilities 5 feet off the back of the pad. No matter how you cut it, you would be on the grass and the previous occupant left a 4 inch deep rut next to the pad. The electric pedestal was missing the protective plate and if you wanted WiFi access, you have to pay for it (we did not). There were more than 60 cable channels listed but we did not hook up. For connectivity in this rural area, Verizon 3.0 down/2.0 up and T-Mobile 0.43 down/0.57 up.

This campground/RV Park/Golf Course has been our families go to destination for 3 generations. It used to be beautiful and well kept. Nothing could be farther from the truth now. Upon arrival at what Good Sam rates as a 9.5/9/9.5 park we found the golf course open but all grass was dead and was left to go to seed. Check in was fine and Covid masks were in place. As we headed for our 2 sites we immediately found the grass throughout the resort was dead and not mowed in any recent history. Except... Read More

Getting to our two sites #84 & #90 we found a maze of cars and pickups abandoned and blocking the already narrow roads. We reported our predicament to a man in a golf cart with a badge on. He went for help. He nor anyone else ever returned. We had to back our 36' coaches up the wrong way a full block and enter our sites from the exit side of the sites. We found the picnic table in #90 covered with old food, Gummy Bears melting in the sun and other dried on garbage left behind. Clearly no maintenance was done between our arrival and the previous campers. The WI-FI was unusable. No signal from the park could maintain a connection. No security was maintained at night as very loud parties went to well after mid-night. I'm guessing Good Sam has not inspected this park in recent history. This park will never be frequented by our family and friends again.

We are a retired full-timing couple. Stayed on a premium pull-through site in our 42 ft motorcoach. Fairly well-maintained park with lots of room to get our coach in and out. Wi-fi and cable not very usable. Pool was nice. Golf course had great "bones" but the greens were not well-maintained. Staff helpful and friendly. We got there just after the Reggae by the River Festival which sounds as though it had been a bit overwhelming. We visited nearby historic inn for brunch and enjoyed their... Read More

We visited nearby historic inn for brunch and enjoyed their small but pretty rose garden. Just in front of our site was a solid wall of blackberry bushes ready for harvesting. We got a good bunch and watched many others pick their fill as well. Would probably return but wish they would fix up that golf course. That would earn them an extra star or two!

There was plenty to do for the two sullen teen-age boys we took along - they even got silly for a while! Our little terrier was welcome there, and everyone else with a dog was courteous, too. It was so hot! But every site had ample shade, and we only had to turn on the air conditioner a couple of times, and only for a couple of hours at a time. Lovely setting, and very nicely maintained park.

Have stayed here when traveling on US 101 for years. Always has been very good overnight stay. Last year it became a KOA, and the same high marks remain. Golf course adjacent to RV Park
