This campground and lake are located in a National Park and a State Park. It makes for a remote area with no houses on the lake. There are several islands in the lake and camping is allowed on them. You can boat out, canoe out, or cayak out to the islands for some gorgeous views. The sky is full of stars at night due to the low number of city lights. The staff are very nice and helpful. Take a hour and a half long boat tour of the lake for just $10. We were fortunate to be the only two on the cruise but, it did not stop the staff from taking us out. The campground is about 20-minute drive from Hot Springs, AR. A small town with a long line of history dating back to the "roaring 20's". Town offers small gift shops and spas. A number of historic hotels like the Arlington Hotel.
