When we decide to stay close to Atlanta, this is my wife's one and only choice. There are other nice, and very similar C.O.E. parks nearby as well (including Clark Creek), but she is one of those who sees no reason to change if it works. There are two sets of campground hosts (both older couples)...the serious ones and the pleasant ones. When you roll up, you never know which couple you are going to get. When we decide to stay close to Atlanta, this is my wife's one and only choice. There are other nice, and very similar C.O.E. parks nearby as well (including Clark Creek), but she is one of those who sees no reason to change if it works. There are two sets of campground hosts (both older couples)...the serious ones and the pleasant ones. When you roll up, you never know which couple you are going to get. I always try to get the the serious ones to smile, but no luck yet. However, both sets of hosts are competent and efficient. The bathrooms are older but looked-after and cleaned at night. Ergo, they are clean early in the day, but show signs of careless campers as it gets toward evening. The law of entropy, I guess. The sites have water and electric (up to 50 amps for the "big rigs") but not sewer. This is something to keep in mind if your holding tanks are small. They do have a dump station near the entrance. Oh, and you can count on sharing the campground with ants, so plan ahead and have the gallon sprayer of pest control liquid on hand to ant-proof your camper as soon as you arrive and set up. The deer are abundant here, and roam around like they own the joint. Lastly, you get to pick your site when making reservations (all water view sites are fantastic) but you have to pay 100 percent of the charges in advance so you lose if you change your mind or can't go. Beautiful secluded sites on the lake. This is one of the best Corp of Engineers parks. The deer are friendly too!
