This campground has a ton of appeal and opportunity for a full 5-star experience if it wasn't for the front office. Infuse some customer service and this place would be almost perfect. The good: Nice level concrete sites with well placed utilities. Trash pick up each morning as well as catered propane service. Close to the golf course, pool and restaurant. Castroville is a historic little town with not much going on. Stop by the visitors center as a jumping off spot. We enjoyed lunch in town at Sammy's and visited the local meat markets and bakery, all worth the trip.
The bad: We made our reservations in May and received an invoice. Were were assigned site 602 at the time and asked to put a note in or record that we would like a 500 site if one becomes available. We received an email invoice detail our price and deposit for electric. We called two weeks prior to our arrival to verify our reservation and was told we'd been moved to site 604 but still had the note for a 500 site. When we arrived, we learned that we were assigned a 400 site and were being charge $180 more for the month in addition to a $15 pet fee. Had we been able to find an open spot at another campground we would have left. Never was there a mention of a pet fee and that was not on our original invoice. They would not take that off. After discussing the $180 increase with the lady at the front office, she contacted the office manager and they offered to split the cost between what we were originally quoted and what they were charging for the new site. We accepted begrudgingly. The 600 sites back up to the noisy county road. You really don't want to be there for any time. Next, as a previous reviewer mention, the cable is horrible. Very snowy. Fortunately we had our satellite. However, Dish local channels come out of Corpus Christi for some reason. When mentioned the poor cable to the office, we were told, "Well it is analog so it's not going to be digital quality." Looked like they had perfect cable reception in the office. Laundry facility is adequate but we had one dryer that didn't dry our half load of laundry after an hour of drying. Mentioned this to the office and was told, "No one has said anything but we'll look into it." No offer to refund our $1.50. So, there doesn't seem to much concern for the customer and I think they hide charges until you are here, knowing that travelers trying to change plans at the last minute would be difficult at best. So, travelers BEWARE. It's too bad because they definitely put some time and effort in planning the design and layout of this park. Too bad management doesn't care about how their customers feel. We are less than a week into a monthly stay so we'll see how the rest of the stay goes. An update may be necessary. However, at this point, I would encourage other travelers to bypass this place and look elsewhere.
Stayed for a week - although a nice park - we had problems - advertised that they had a dog park and cable they had neither - we were checked into a site that the cable has never worked (did not tell me ahead of time) - after i complained they hooked us up to a neighbor and we only got snow and making the TV unusable - according to a neighbor this is a common problem in this new park as the underground wiring was done wrong - many had snow on their tv
There is no spa at this campground
Pay their high rates we expected more - note they have no snow bird activities
This resort is beautiful and peaceful! The office staff is great to deal with. We spent 9 days there and no complaints. We ate at the restaurant twice, used the laundry room but did not use the pool due to windy conditions. If you golf this is a great stop for you! Also go to the Haby Bakery in town their pastries are delicious. Not much in the town to see but a good location to see things within an hour or more drive. We were there during spring break week and we are not traveling with children. We did make reservations for this place 6 months in advance but we were also able to extend our stay with no problem due to high winds. Would definitely stay here again.
Spent a long, four day weekend in mid-December to enjoy the San Antonio River Walk at Christmas time. Alsatian RV Resort is truly a "resort" and one of, if not the best, RV parks we have visited the last five years. Staff was very helpful when available (they had recently lost an employee). The location gives a true quiet, "out of in the countyw" feel. The "premium" pull through spot we used gave plenty of room for our 40 foot motor home with a four door Wrangler in tow. Spacing between RV spots is wonderful. The golf course view is fantastic. The resort's hiking trail gives the feeling of being deep in a forest. The amenities are top notch. Only complaint is the limited hours for the fitness room. The town of Castroville was also enjoyable to explore.
We stayed here to visit San Antonio RiverWalk, Alamo, etc. and thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nite stay. Very convenient to San Antonio, great restaurants nearby. Hubby enjoyed golf at the resort and also at the nearby Golf Club of Texas.
Massage at the on-site spa was wonderful. On-site restaurant open Thurs-Sat, we had pizza that was just OK and enjoyed the Sat. nite entertainment. Pool and hot tub very nice and clean. Definitely would return.
We stay here as its close to family and friends. We have enjoyed our stay as the staff is friendly and helpful. This is our 3rd stay here and will return for many more. This is a new park so the trees are small. We have used the swimming pool and pond. Both are enjoyable. The restrooms have been clean and well maintained.
Bathrooms were fine except the shower drain flooded the floor. Park excellent shape. Pull in sites cement pads. Water, elect, and sewer connections excellent. Wide RV spacing. Very nice pool. Staff was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. Golf course was great would play again.
Very Nice park, although its a new place and the trees are still very small, It seems to be well maintained and landscaped. Very clean and the staff were Great! Also the sites are very large, easy in and out!!
