Every year for many years I book a week on Sunset State Beach. I am a clinical counselor. I am privileged to support, guide and educate people who have lost their way. Sometimes severely and sometimes circumstantially. It is an honor and has taught me the true meaning of compassion and empathy. It is also mentally and emotionally exhausting. A week on the coast helps me reboot so I can go back and show up for those depending on me to hold up the lantern and guide them back to their true selves. The camp sites are clean. The bathrooms are clean. Including the vaulted toilet at the lower parking/day area on the beach. I love ending every night cozying up in a blanket and a bonfire in the fire rings. Watching the most beautiful sunsets. My absolute favorite is the Long Beach walks where you can see Moss Landing on one side of the Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Board Walk on the other.
