As KOA's go, this one is relatively small and quiet. Located about 10 miles south of Fredericksburg, which itself is 40 miles each way from Washington DC and Richmond. The park is mostly wooded, with the majority of the sites in heavy shade. The main roads are paved, but the sites are gravel and grass. I had asked for a satellite friendly site and our pull thru site (#93) was located in the middle of the park next to the pond, with no one behind us. Very nice view out the back window. Utilities... I had asked for a satellite friendly site and our pull thru site (#93) was located in the middle of the park next to the pond, with no one behind us. Very nice view out the back window. Utilities are quite far from the pad and I stretched every bit of 20' of sewer hose to reach the drain. Wifi is pretty good, even with a full park. Park has only one bathhouse, located at the main office and quite a walk from the back forty. Medium sized pool with only one table and a few chairs which were crowded on the holiday weekend. Small playground and a few riding toys for the kids. Medium sized pond on site that allows fishing and saw a couple of large fish caught. Nice enough park but over priced. Good location for day trips. The town of Fredericksburg is quaint and historic tracing its lineage to colonial times with George Washington growing up across the Rappahannock river and his mother living in town in her later years. Many civil war battles were fought in and around the town, including Chancellorsville, Wilderness and Spotsylvania Courthouse.

Had an excellent stay, The park staff was very helpful with all aspects and very knowledgeable about the area and getting to and from the D.C. area. Will defiantly stay again. Thought the Geese was fun to watch, There was three family's of young.

We enjoyed our stay here. Our site was on the pond with a cement patio and outdoor furnishings. The one downside was a gaggle of geese were roaming freely and pooping everywhere. My hubby had to go shovel it up at least twice a day, very unsanitary. The staff tried to chase them away often but that is all they could do as the geese are protected. Halfway through our 7 day stay, we realized the geese were gone. They had moved on, thankfully. The campground in general was basic but clean. The... Read More

Great place for families. Very remote, quiet area. The Gem mining is pricey but our grandchildren had so much fun then compared what they had found with pictures of gems. I was so surprised that they spent so much time with it. Pool was good, overall very clean, nice play ground. Only negatives, sites are so close together that people beside us and in back of us had camp fires and we could smell it inside the air conditioned trailer. Also, it stormed one night and everything down hill caught... Read More

long very narrow road for a motorhome (2-3 miles) to get to the park. Once there, the park is nice, nice facilities. The site we were on was very steep on one end and we ended up backing out and hooking up the tow car to avoid dragging.
