A very well run KOA. Might be a bit exposed on windy and or rainy days. Few trees. Great staff. It was a very good stop for us. We got the impression that it was much of a pass-through stop, at least while we were there.

Over night stay after a long days drive from Breckenridge Co. Wakeeny KOA was a sight for my sore eyes & rear end after the rough ride across Colorado on I70. Nothing fancy about this park, but it was good place for my soul. Plenty of space to maneuver and set up my 5th Wheel. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Escorted to our site by 2 of the sweetest young ladies in the world who also offered help with setting up, They could see I was beat up from the drive. The cable & WiFi was excellent!!... Read More

Pancake breakfast the next morning at the clubhouse for guest, Great over night place from my perspective.

This is our second visit to Wakeeney KOA and wanted to share this review. The driveway to the park off the interstate turnoff is better now. It doesn't have the huge holes in the road like it used to have. The park is right off the interstate in western Ks and you know if you use the trip planner that campgrounds in this area are few and far between. The roads are all dusty gravel but the sites are pretty long and average in width. Didn't use the bathrooms so can't comment on that. Office check-in... Read More

Office check-in was good and they do have supplies in their office. If you are looking for a stop-over in western Ks then I would recommend this campground. Nothing fancy but a place to park and rest. HOWEVER their cable service was fantastic, I never saw so many channels.

I gave this resort a lower rating because of the TERRIBLE access road into the park. The turn off from the main road is hard to see as the sign for the road is darkened and hard to see. Once you find the access road your troubles begin. There are huge potholes and damage to the road so if you are not careful you can damage your unit. Once you get to the park it is a nice stay with typical distance between units that most koa's have. Nice check in and courteous young man that took us to our site.... Read More

Typical Kansas fields surround the park and the interstate is right next door but didn't notice much noise. If you need a overnight stay I would recommend this campground but beware of the access road to the park. Gas at the intersection and a Mcdonalds for breakfast lunch or light dinner.

We stay here almost every time we head west. Easy in and out right off the highway but very little noise. Gas stations at the exit and across the road and there is a mcdonalds now in the gas station across the road which was nice to grab breakfast and fill the RV tank as well on our early departure the next morning. This campground is flat and little to no trees so it's great for satellite reception but also has plenty of cable channels as well. WiFi was typical campground, good enough to check... Read More

Sites are level and hookups are easy to access. Sites are fairly wide compared to most KOA's and they do seem to try to spread the campers out if not full. Been here several times and plan to be here several more.

We arrived about 10 minutes early after an exhausting day of travel. We were informed that we would not be permitted to check-in early unless we paid an additional $10.00. Ridiculous! The park was nearly empty. There is absolutely no reason to be so dogmatic about time. This is your typical KOA: right next to the road and convenient for travel. I cannot think of any reason anyone would want to stay here more that one night as there isn't really much to do in this part of Kansas. The dog park... Read More

The dog park is quite adequate and it is a grassy area with shade. Would stay again but only for a night.

Heading from NJ to Colorado I find it can be a challenge to find a suitable site to spend the night. This resort is just what we needed. An easy access, clean, well maintained facility to hook up for the night and head out in the morning. Located right along the interstate was convenient and the traffic noise was not really noticeable. We arrived after hours and getting a site was easy as was settling up with the park in the morning. Would certainly stay here again passing thru.

Wakeeney KOA, KS. The most affordable KOA we stayed at on our trip. The sites were level with stone and grass with trees spread out over the grounds. The pet area was new and very nice. The bathroom/showers were also nice, clean, and well appointed. The pool's coping and deck near the pool were in desperate need of repair. The pool water, however, was clean, cool, refreshing, and a much needed relief to the 90+ daytime temperatures. One minute in the water and you forgave the needed repairs to the... Read More

$35.45 after 10% discount Nothing fancy, nothing special, but a good spot for overnight. Restroom was decent. Free Wifi & cable, pull-thru grass sites. Pool wasn't open, so I can't comment on that. The office/store was under renovations when we were there. Easy on/off the Interstate, with some highway noise.

We stayed 2 nights to visit an attraction in the area. The park is adjacent to I-70 so it is a short drive from the interstate interchange (Exit 127: US-283) along a paved 2 lane road that ends at the park. The road can become congested when there is a line of RV's checking in. While the park was built on a gently sloping field, the site parking pads were generally level. The interior roads and sites are gravel. The roads were wide enough as most were for one way traffic. The turns were easily... Read More

The turns were easily negotiated by larger RV's. The RV sites are all pull throughs. The P/T sites appeared long enough to stay connected to toads. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50 AMP), & sewer. The connections were generally at the middle of the site. The sewer connection was at the ground so it was easy to establish a downhill flow. Sites had sufficient room for opening slides. Distance and grassy areas establish privacy between the sites. There was an outside table but no fire pit as campfires are "strictly prohibited". There were no obstructions to the sky so satellite reception was good. Cable channel lineup showed 58 channels. The park provided WiFi was adequate. It was password protected. Our Verizon WiFi hotspot worked well. Didn't try the NET10 phone so don't know about cell phone reception. There was one fenced pet area along with a designated unfenced area as well as sufficient distance along the park's roads to exercise a dog. There were bag dispensers and collection stations for waste throughout the park and a couple of dumpsters scattered around the park. The fenced pet area was one of the nicest we have seen in our 5 plus years of full timing travel across the U.S. For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, didn't see an underground storm shelter or any structure identified as a severe weather shelter. We would stay here again if visiting the area. TIP: It was about a 45 minute (around 39 miles) drive one way to Nicodemus National Historic Site.

I agree with a previous reviewer - 4 stars for being a well run campground. Staff was friendly, helpful and organized. Cable and Internet were good. Grounds were well maintained but there were a few well-worn cabins. Loved the dog park - my dogs loved the dog park - it was clean and there were poop bags at my visit. Location is convenient, right off the highway. Would definitely stay here again for a night or two.

I gave this campground four stars not because the ammenities are good but because it's a clean, we'll run KOA. The people that work here are so nice and helpful. The dog park is very nice but they need to supply pick-up bags. The sites are wide and I suspect this campground sees a lot of overnight campers because of its location. The pool looked nice. Great place to stop overnight. And the Internet and cable tv are awesome!
