To ensure the comfort and safety of our guests, please abide by the following rules:
Check-in Procedure - While each park attempts to accommodate your exact spot request, the on-site manager has the ultimate decision for spot placement. Personal Conduct - Customers are responsible at all times for their actions and the actions of their family members, guests, and invitees. - Shady Shores reserves the right in its sole discretion to remove any person from the property whose behavior violates these Rules or otherwise adversely affects the use, enjoyment, or safety of our customers or their guests. - Shady Shores may terminate a customer’s site or dock agreement for serious or repeat violations of these Rules and Regulations at any time and without refund. - No abusive, foul, rude, or vulgar behavior or language is permitted. - We are all here to relax and have fun so be respectful of others at all times. - Do not walk/drive through or park on other people’s campsites. - Shady Shores is privately owned and therefore has the right to approve or reject any person as a customer for any reason including the appearance or condition of their RV or vehicle. Pet Policy - All pets must be registered at the Office and provide vaccination papers. - Maximum of 2 pets per site. - Small pets are allowed on the premises but they must be kept on a leash at all times and under the control of their owner. - Pets may not be left alone on site. - Shady Shores seeks to maintain a safe and peaceful environment for all of its customers and therefore reserves the right to prohibit any Customer from bringing a pet onto the premises in its sole discretion. - Noisy (frequent barking) or aggressive pets are not allowed. - If any animal is unruly, the owner must take it off the resort immediately. - CUSTOMERS ARE REQUIRED TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEIR PETS. - No pets are allowed in buildings or at parties where food is present. Speed Limit - Maximum speed limit is 5 MPH. This is important to maintain the safety of each person in the park. - Speeders will be warned first. - Repeat violations result in the immediate termination of the site agreement without refund. Vehicle Policy - No golf carts or ATVs may be used on Shady Shores property unless and until a current insurance certificate has been presented by the owner and kept on file at the Office. - Operators must have a valid and current driver’s license. - After dusk, all vehicles must have operating lights. - Passengers must remain in their seats at all times while the vehicle is underway. - No joyriding permitted. - Passengers under 16 must wear a helmet. - Quiet time: Golf carts and ATVs may not be operated between 11 PM and 8 AM. - Golf carts and ATVs may only be used on campground roads and paths, and never on shorefront areas or a neighbor’s property. - RV site holders shall affix their site number on the rear of the vehicle. - Vehicles must be ready to move at all times so that Shady Shores personnel may -move the vehicle if needed for an emergency or campground operations (mowing, maintaining unrestricted travel within the campground, etc.) - Accidents must be reported immediately to Shady Shores staff and the New York State police. - Driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs is strictly prohibited. - A violation of this rule will result in a loss of golf cart or ATV privileges and the customer shall be required to remove the vehicle from the property within 48 hours. - To ensure safety after dark, please carry a flashlight. No bike or scooter riding after dark. Fire Policy - Campfires must be contained within a fire ring and manned, for the safety of everyone, at all times. - New York State has strict laws prohibiting the transport of firewood. - Campers and visitors are not allowed to bring firewood on the property. - Firewood is available from the General Store at a reasonable cost. Lake Policy - Lake Ontario and Blind Sodus Bay are public property and are not life-guarded or otherwise supervised by Shady Shores. - No swimming permitted. Firearm Policy - No firearms, BB guns, or fireworks are allowed on the property. Water Hook-up Policy - NO WATER HOSES stretched from a Water Hook-Up Site or spigot to a Non-Water Site. - Upon 1st offense, you will be charged an additional $65.00 beyond the initial cost of your site and your water hose will be cut. - Upon 2nd offense, you will be asked to leave the campground without a refund. RV Sites Policy - Only one RV may be placed on each site. No tents or popups are permitted. - No RVs more than 15 years old may be brought onto the property. - RVs must be well maintained and in overall good condition. - RV electric and water connections must be buried below the ground surface to accommodate lawn mowing. - Areas around Customer owned equipment or personal property will not be mowed. - Shady Shores is not responsible for damage to any personal property arising from mowing. - RV owners are expected to trim and keep the area immediately surrounding their RV sites neat and well-kept. - Customers shall not engage in any commercial activities on the premises. - No “for sale” signs or other signage of any kind shall be posted without the prior written consent of Shady Shores which may be withheld for any reason. Sewer Policy - NO DUMPING of sewage or water from your camper onto the ground. - Existing gray water discharge practices are permitted but discouraged. - No new gray water pipes to the ground are permitted. Clothesline Policy - No towels, bathing suits, or clothes may be hung outside. - Laundry facilities have been provided for this purpose. Trash Policy - Garbage shall not be left on or around RV sites or common areas. - All garbage shall be disposed of in trash receptacles or removed from the property. - No person shall discharge oil, spirits, flammable liquids, or other liquids other than water into or on the property. Visitor Policy - Visitors must register at the Office as soon as they enter Shady Shores RV Resort and Campground. Child Safety - Children are expected to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Quiet Hours - Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM to 9 AM daily - Noise shall be kept to a minimum at all times. - Customers shall use discretion in operating engines, generators, radios, and televisions so as not to create a nuisance or disturbance. - If your neighbor can hear it, it’s too loud. - Dinners, parties, or other social activities continuing after 10 PM should be moved inside the host’s RV to prevent disturbing others. Smoking Policy - Smoking is not allowed in the General Store, Laundry Room, Arcade Room, or the Restroom and Shower buildings. Parking Policy - RV sites are limited to one car per site and one golf cart or ATV ONLY if all vehicles can be parked on the site without blocking interior roads, campground facilities, or infringing upon an adjacent site. - Vehicles must be parked only in designated parking spaces. - A visitor may not park at the customer’s RV site. - Parking is only allowed in designated parking areas and a parking pass shall be placed on the dashboard. - Parking on access roads or public areas (including along the lakeshore) is prohibited. - This is a campground regulation to provide access for emergency vehicles such as fire trucks or ambulances, should they become necessary. - Boats and trailers are not permitted to be parked or stored on an RV site or in the common areas. - Boats and trailers may only be parked in designated areas. - Shady Shores shall have the right to remove from the premises any RV, car, or vehicle that is deemed unsafe. Repairs and Improvements Policy - Construction of outdoor seating areas, storage facilities, decks, or porches or the modification of surrounding landscaped areas is prohibited without the prior written consent of Shady Shores. - Customers may work on their RV provided the customer notifies Shady Shores personnel in advance of any major work. - Hazardous materials used or generated by Customer must be removed from Shady Shores property and properly disposed of by Customer. - Absolutely no paints, thinners, solvents, oils of similar materials, sawdust residue, or paint scrapings shall be dumped or discharged into the water, dumped in resort trash receptacles, or spilled onto Shady Shores property. - Shady Shores will hold Customers liable for any costs or fines incurred by Shady Shores as a result of such discharge of waste on the premises. - Vendors or service providers performing repairs, modifications, or alterations to any RV or RV site must be pre-approved by Shady Shores. - All vendors performing services must provide proof of liability and workman’s compensation insurance with coverage limits deemed to be acceptable to Shady Shores. Boat Launch Policy - Launch ramp pass is required for all ramp users. A daily pass is $8.00. The season pass is $80. Ramp pass fees are waived for all seasonal RV site holders. - Launch vehicles must have a launch pass displayed on the dashboard at all times. - After launching, vehicles and trailers must be moved out of the launch ramp area. - Vehicles must be parked at the customer’s RV site or in one of the designated parking areas as directed by Shady Shoe staff. Trailers must be parked in the designated trailer parking area which is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. - Under no circumstances may a trailer be parked at a campsite. - Boats and other watercraft must leave the dock area within 15 minutes of launch. - A current motor vehicle registration is required for all boats, crafts, and trailers. - RV site number must be displayed on the stern area of the watercraft and the trailer tongue/hitch. - Hitches must be kept unlocked and outboard engines kept in the up position so that Shady Shores can move any trailer or boat as needed. - All trailers and boats must be removed from the property before October 15th unless the customer has paid a winter storage fee and signed our winter storage agreement. Boat Docks Policy - No one may tie up to a boat dock unless the person has paid all applicable fees and signed a docking agreement. - Running around, horseplay, or diving off the docks can cause serious injury or death. - Any such activities are strictly prohibited. - No grills of any kind may be used on or around the docks. - Always maintain “No Wake” boat speed within 100 yards of the Shady Shores docks and launch ramp. Park Disclaimer - Customer shall comply at all times with all Federal, state, and local regulations and laws. - Customer will, upon reasonable demand, produce proof of liability and fire insurance in a satisfactory form to Shady Shores. - Shady Shores reserves the right to amend or change these Rules without prior notice for the preservation, safety, control, and orderly operation of the resort. - All customers, guests, and visitors assume all risks and dangers incidental to the activity of camping in a rustic outdoor environment including specifically (but not limited to), the danger of being injured by insects or other animals, of being injured while participating in recreational activities, such as playing sports, hiking, riding in golf carts, and boating and/or being injured as a result of inclement weather conditions, and agrees that Shady Shores RV Resort and Campground and its owners, agents, and employees are not liable for injuries or property damage resulting from any such risks and danger.

The three-number rating that accompanies each campground listing in the directory gives readers an at-a-glance assessment of a campground's amenities, cleanliness and environment. All three ratings categories are measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best. Less than 1 percent of parks or campgrounds receive the coveted 10 | 10 | 10 rating, which indicates superior facilities that are well maintained, clean, well-appointed restrooms and a highly appealing appearance. Campgrounds are inspected annually by dedicated RVers like you.
Completeness of facilities
The first campground rating evaluates completeness and quality of facilities. In this category we rate interior roads, sites, registration area, hookups, recreation, swimming, security, laundry, store and building maintenance.
Cleanliness of restrooms and showers
The second rating category concerns the cleanliness and physical characteristics of toilets, walls, showers, sinks/counters/mirrors and floor. If a park achieves a full point in each of the above, it receives a star ( ), indicating exceptionally clean restrooms.
Also rated are physical characteristics of restrooms, including interior construction, adequate supplies/odor free, adequate number of facilities, exterior appearance and location in relation to park spaces, and interior appearance.
Visual appeal and environmental quality
This category addresses the park's setting and site layout, function and identification of signage, overall exterior building maintenance, noise, trash disposal, litter and debris around the grounds and sites, and appearance of grounds, sites and entrance area.
