It's our fIrst time in the area and picked Shadrack for it's close location to Bristol and it's PA membership. We were only looking for a place to stay and have power, water and sewer while we explored the area. This is a no frills campground (no pool, activities, mini-golf, etc.) I have read reviews saying that there was flash flooding last year and seeing the pictures, I was a little concerned. Now that I'm here, I'm completely relaxed. Entrance IS intimidating. The road out front has two... Read More

I have read reviews saying that there was flash flooding last year and seeing the pictures, I was a little concerned. Now that I'm here, I'm completely relaxed.
Entrance IS intimidating. The road out front has two lanes each way with a turn lane in the middle and trees block the sign pretty well. When you see the entrance sign, you cannot see that the gravel drive continues down (180 from the road) if you are driving. You have to turn in at a 90 degree angle (that seems like it's about at at 45 degree angle down), straight toward the building, then turn another 90 degrees to be parallel with the building. Once you check in, it's another 90 degree turn down a continuation of the hill to get to the campground.
The campground is mostly a flat field with a couple trees and gravel drives. There IS a creek that is running behind it. Apparently the flash flooding last year brought that creek up several feet because that is what would be needed for the park to flood.
Despite the fact that it is just off the road, and just down from the speedway, it is relatively quiet here.
There are some older run down trailers here and there, but we're parked with several very pricey, brand spankin' new class A's.
There are mountains all around the campground here and actually, all around the entire area. You can head either direction on the road to pick up supplies as everything you could ever want is located in either Bristol or Johnson City.
Washing machine room is nice and clean. Washers are $2. Dryers are $1.50.
Water, electric, sewer and wifi all work well.
We have Sprint and have great cell phone service.
The fenced in dog area is 25x50. We found a couple doggy daycare sites nearby to allow us to fully explore.
Reservations allowed us to use Good Sam AND PA discount for extra savings.
Everyone who works here was very friendly.

The office staff was very friendly and helpful. The campground is practically next door to the motor speedway and only a short drive from downtown. This is a "bare bones" campground - no trees, picnic tables, cable, fire rings or other "niceties" . The hook up for our site was also strange in that the water hook up was on the opposite side of the trailer from the rest of the utilities and for a different site. That site had water outlets for 3 sites.. Our 25 foot water hose was just long enough... Read More

Also there was no circuit breaker switch on the electric panel requiring you to plug into a live outlet (not enjoyable in the rain).

The Pluses: 1. Facility was VERY well manicured and clean. Nicest I've ever seen! 2. Showers incredibly clean. 8 to 10 individual showers. Nicest ever. 3. Have on site RV Store for purchasing forgotten items. 4. Very friendly and helpful staff. 5. 1 mile from Bristol speedway, if that's your thing. The Minuses - for me. 1. Water pressure of the water supply was so low that my on-demand water heater would not generate hot water. I had to run off RV water and pump to get hot water. Camping... Read More

After traveling over 16,000 miles across Canada, Alaska, and the Northwest areas, and over 70 campgrounds, we found one of the best campgrounds in Bristol, Tennessee. Shadrack's campground is more than just another RV park. The park has very level gravel sites with multiple water outlets, multiple sewer connections and 30-50 amp electrical services. Large RV'ers will appreciate the multiple outlets. All sites are very wide to accommodate all RV sizes (extra large grassy area with each site). Full... Read More

Large RV'ers will appreciate the multiple outlets. All sites are very wide to accommodate all RV sizes (extra large grassy area with each site). Full facilities with modern, large showers and low cost laundry room. However, the greatest asset of the park is the management and staff. The manager meets all guests and assures all is well with their site. His staff are always close by and willing to assist in set-ups. The staff patrol the campgrounds frequently and anytime I was outside, they asked about my stay without being intrusive. There is a downhill gravel entrance that is easily traversed by the largest RVs. They also offer shuttle services to the Bristol Motor Speedway during events which is very close by. Sorry for the long evaluation but you will not be disappointed if you chose to stay there. There is little recreation on site but Bristol Motor Speedway is a short distance away as is the twin cities of Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia where Rhythm and Roots concerts abound. My wife and I stayed at the campground in our motorhome and will stay there again.

Stayed at Shadrack during a non-race long weekend. Campground was not crowded (1/3 to 1/2 full in non-race space) Shadrack was a simple, clean and well maintained campground. Nothing fancy; no pools, playgrounds, or water parks. If you want lots of on site diversions this is probably not going to be for you. There is a nice creek that runs along the property which we used for our nightly walks. Very quiet. Sites were level and well spaced. No issues with water, power or sewer during out... Read More

Sites were level and well spaced. No issues with water, power or sewer during out stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a space on the side where their were trees to provide some shade and relief from the August heat. The other side of the campground is wide open with no shade.
The entrance is steep but large units can get in. we had not trouble with our 37' Toy Hauler 5ver. It looks more intimidating than it really is.
Bathrooms, showers and the grounds were clean and neat during our stay. .
