Perched on a rocky bluff overlooking the Tennessee River, J.P. Coleman State Park offers the finest in all types of water sports. Visitors experience unmatched sailing, swimming, skiing, and fishing in the sparkling waters of Pickwick Lake, and enjoy camping and exploring in the untamed wilderness along the banks of the Tennessee River. J.P. Coleman is located four miles north of Iuka, turn off Hwy. 25 onto county road 989; follow 989 until it intersects county road 321. Turn right. Entrance to park is approximately one mile. The park office is open 8:00-5:00 daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Primitive Camping: J.P. Coleman offers tent camping sites overlooking Indian Creek. Hot showers and comfort stations are within walking distance. Developed Camping: The 69 sites available for RV camping feature picnic tables, grills, electrical, water hook-ups, sewage, and bathhouse with restrooms and hot showers. All campsites may be reserved.. Cabins: J.P. Coleman features 20 vacation cabins furnished with bed and bath linens as well as basic kitchen equipment. Cabins offer a view of Indian Creek. All cabins are air conditioned and heated. Some have screened porches. Four units have fireplaces with gas log inserts. Cabins accommodate up to four people. Reservations are accepted 24 months to date. Motel: The motel features three luxurious townhouses and sixteen hotel rooms, two of which are handicap accessible. All rooms are equipped with kitchen facilities and offer a view of the majestic Tennessee River. Reservations are recommended and are accepted 24 months to date. Miniature Golf: A miniature golf course is open seasonally and is available to groups by reservation year-round. A fee is charged. Water Sports: Pickwick Lake offers 47,500 acres of fresh water for fishing and water sports. The lake is brimming with crappie, bream, catfish, sauger, walleye, and most species of bass. Fishing is permitted at no charge. A Mississippi fishing license is required for all persons between the ages of 16 and 65. Water skiing is permitted and a boat launching ramp is available. Swimming Pool: The park features a 15 x 60 foot swimming pool and a kiddy pool. A fee is charged. Open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Meeting Rooms: Meeting rooms accommodating up to 150 are located in the convention center. Contact the park office for specific information on facilities and costs. Kitchen is not available. Day Use: A day use entry fee is charged on a per vehicle basis. Area Attractions: The following attractions are located within a short drive of J.P. Coleman State Park.
