Kananaskis Country

A year-round, multi-use recreational area with over a million acres of spectacular parkland scenery in the Rocky Mountains of southwestern Alberta. It is located south of Trans Canada Hwy. 1 between Canmore and Calgary. An extensive network of over 500 miles of looped and linear trails are available for exploring the valleys of Bow River, Sheep River, Elbow River; Bow Valley Provincial Park; Peter Lougheed Provincial Park; and Kananaskis Village and valley. Many of the trails interconnect. Some are interpretive trails, others lead to mountain passes and backcountry lakes, or follow rivers to their source.
