Deadwood River
Excellent whitewater boating river in a scenic area with diverse topography has whitewater runs that alternate with deep pools; roadless from reservoir to mouth; in upper reaches, a meandering stream in a meadow environment. The 22.6-mile segment between Deadwood Dam and the South Fork of the Payette is runnable in spring; technical waters especially suited for expert kayakers—class IV to V+. The upper reach has long portages. Counties: Valley and Boise. Length: 42 miles. Location: From headwaters south southeast of Warm Lake to head of Deadwood Dam and from beneath Deadwood Dam to confluence with South Fork of the Payette River.
