One Tank Trip for Vermont Camping

Are you looking to sweeten up your adventures? Vermont is the place for you! Famous for country inns, covered bridges, and some of the most incredibly scenic areas in the country, Vermont offers visitors more beauty and recreation than should be legal! Oh, and did I mention the syrup? Mmmmm... Today we start our one tank trip in Waterbury, a tiny village located on the shores of the Winooski River within the Green Mountains. The views here are spectacular, and although the town is small, it lies in a prime spot for a wealth of activities. Who doesn't like ice cream? Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory is located here, and no one should pass up the opportunity for a little tour and a little taste of the stuff that made Waterbury famous. Just as sweet and delicious is the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, where you can watch crates of apples being pressed. And don't forget to pick up some of that famous Vermont maple syrup! There are plenty of activities to help you work off all that good stuff you just munched on, right in, and around, town. At the Waterbury Reservoir, fishing, canoeing, boating, and swimming are just a few of the things you can immerse yourself in. Since the majority of Waterbury is beautifully forested, it makes for the perfect place to do some hiking, cycling and birdwatching as well. Dry yourself off as we move on to our next Vermont RV camping stop, Shelburne. Take I-89 N out of Waterbury, merging onto I-189 and then onto US-7 S. Located a short distance from Lake Champlain, Shelburne contains one of the finest collections of true Americana items and displays at the Shelburne Museum, and is more than worthy of a visit. With lush valley and mountain views, Shelburne is a true jewel of the valley. Visitors here will also find The Vermont Teddy Bear Company, a great place to pick up a traveling buddy or gift for some lucky person. And for a very unique experience, pay a visit to Shelburne Farms, a 1,400-acre working farm, a National Historic Landmark, and one of the most spectacular places within the state. Created as a model agricultural estate in 1886, the farm urges visitors of all ages to come and explore the trails, the farmyard, inn, and restaurant at their leisure. Return to US-7 N for the short trip to our next Vermont RV camping stop, Burlington. The largest city in Vermont, but small according to big city standards, Burlington is a popular destination due to its location to Lake Champlain, as well as the Green and Adirondack Mountains. These areas offer a host of recreational activities year-round. Visitors are welcome to indulge in any number of water sports from boating to swimming, while the surrounding mountains are a great spot for hiking, mountain biking, camping and climbing. Winter months bring some incredible skiing opportunities, and no matter what activity suits you, the beauty of Burlington provides a breathtaking backdrop. Our last one tank trip location takes us back to I-89 N with a merge onto US-2 W for the short, approximate 20-mile trip to South Hero. Situated in the center of Lake Champlain, South Hero is a unique destination with an equally unique history. Travelers here will find America's largest freshwater beach, and a great place to soak up some of that beautiful Vermont sun. Visitors should also spend some time touring the local winery, and walking over to the local farms where you can pick your own produce. Vermont is magical, and whether you're experiencing it for the first time or the hundredth, it's always guaranteed to take your breath away.
