One Tank Trip for Rhode Island Camping

Like so much of New England, Rhode Island offers an array of natural beauty, cultural offerings and wonderful history. The very name of the Ocean State conjures images of long, sandy beaches, tucked away vineyards, and seafood so fresh, nothing else will ever come close to it! Our one tank trip begins in Westerly. Straddling the state line of Connecticut, Westerly is a city with a proud granite mining heritage, and a haven for historians, foodies, and antique hunters alike. For the summer months, visitors flock to Watch Hill for its beautiful beaches, historic homes, and the Watch Hill Lighthouse. If you're in need of a quiet place to stroll, collect your thoughts, or just enjoy the warm New England sun, head over to Wilcox Park where you can lose yourself amongst the dwarf conifer collection and fragrant flower beds. There are several annual events held within the park, including Summer Pops and Shakespeare in the Park. Let's head to our next Rhode Island RV camping stop, Narragansett. Head out of Westerly on Post Rd/US-1 N. Take the exit toward Narragansett/Point Judith. Take a right at Woodruff Ave, and a left at Old Point Judith Rd. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto Kingstown Rd/Rhode Island 1A N. Turn left at Beach St. This part of our trip is less than an hour drive. Narragansett was once a thriving resort destination in the 1800s and still enjoys its share of travelers who come for the wide variety of fun to be found here. Some of the finest recreation, including sport fishing, as well as spectacular beaches, are right around the corner. And for the shopper, the Narragansett Pier provides more than a few places where you can find a wonderful souvenir, or great bargain, to remind you of your trip. The next portion of our one tank trip takes us back to Rhode Island 1A N/Boston Neck Rd. Turn left to merge onto RI-138 E. Take a slight right at Tashtassuck Rd to arrive in beautiful Jamestown. Located on Conanicut Island in the Narragansett Bay, this sleepy island city hosts summer travelers who flock to enjoy the quiet rural feel and wonderful New England charm. You'll discover many old neighborhoods, farms, and several historic buildings worth exploring via bike or foot. Jamestown has a wonderful laid-back feel to it that just might be the thing to jump start your summer in the right direction. The last Rhode Island RV camping stop on our trip takes us back to RI-138R, and across the Newport Bridge. Be prepared for tolls and partial tolls as we travel to Newport. Take the Rhode Island 238 Scenic S ramp to Newport, take a right at RI-138 Scenic/RI-238 S to arrive. Newport is considered to be a gem of the Rhode Island coast. Here travelers will find some spectacular coastal scenery, exceptional architecture, scenic vineyards, and enough photo opportunities to keep you snapping pictures all day! One of the biggest draws to this fine city by the sea is the beautiful Gilded Age Mansions. No matter what else you do here, you don't want to pass up the chance to take a tour (or several) of these former homes to wealthy industrialists. Walking through the cobblestone streets of this city is sure to make any traveler feel as if they'd stepped back in time. It provides the perfect atmosphere for a nice romantic stroll. No matter if you're looking for a quick getaway, a romantic journey, or to surround yourself with the beauty and serenity of the New England countryside, Rhode Island should get top billing for your next traveling adventure!
