One Tank Trip for Southern California Camping

Sponsored by: Anaheim Resort RV Park www.anaheimresortrvpark.com [email protected] California is a land of geographical extremes, from the Sierra Mountain ranges, to the beaches along the coast, and the desert area nestled between. And with such extremes comes a wealth of adventures, incredible sights, and awe-inspiring beauty. Whatever it is you're looking to experience while visiting, you're guaranteed to find in the Golden State. We begin our one tank trip in Anaheim, a city made famous as the home of Disneyland. Ask most kids, and they'd be able to find Anaheim on a map blindfolded, and one-handed. Disneyland is The Happiest Place on Earth, and one of the most popular family destinations in the world. With the addition of Disney's California Adventure, which occupies 55 of the original 100 acre Disneyland parking lot, and located immediately south of Magic Kingdom, it's just one more reason to pack up and head to Disney! For most, Disneyland is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and no matter how old you are, it shouldn't be missed! Say goodbye to the Disney gang - we're off to our next Southern California RV camping stop, beautiful Newport Beach. A short, but scenic trip on I-5 S, with a merge onto CA-55 S gets you there in no time. Did you bring your surfboard? Newport Beach is an incredible location to ride some waves, sometimes reaching up to 30 feet! But if surfing isn't your thing, there are plenty of other activities to experience. Feeling a little romantic? Then a gondola ride around the bay and canals of Newport is the perfect activity for you. Witness spectacular views beneath the picturesque skyline, and for a fraction of the time and money it would take you to experience the real thing in Italy. Newport Beach is a wonderful city with a boatload of things to do and see, from endless water sports, to some great upscale shopping. It’s a perfect place to soak up some world famous California sun. For the next leg of our one tank trip, backtrack on CA-55 heading south, and merge onto CA-73 S. After a partial toll, merge onto I-5 S. In no time, you'll have arrived in stunning San Juan Capistrano. Visitors here can't miss a visit to the beautiful Mission San Juan Capistrano. Built around a series of 18th century arcades, with each arcade enclosing gorgeous fountains and lush gardens. The charming Serra Chapel, a whitewashed building with vivid and beautiful frescoes inside is considered the oldest building in the state of California, and is set against the endless blue skies. It’s treasure worth admiring. The I-5 S will take us along the beautiful coast and to our next stop, Oceanside. Known as the gateway to San Diego, Oceanside is a classic California beach community. Warm sandy beaches, historic pier, and a Cape Cod style harbor village, which comes complete with unlimited water sports and recreation opportunities - the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle, and experience the casualness that made this beach culture legendary. A little further down I-5 S is Oceanside's sister city, Carlsbad. Known affectionately as the “Village by the Sea,” Carlsbad offers visitors all the charm and allure of a European town, but with the amenities of a large city. Filled with antique stores, boutiques and sidewalk cafes, Carlsbad's wonderfully mild climate offers a variety of unique events and activities, from street fairs to art walks. With miles of coastline, perfect for sunbathing and surfing, as well as beautiful lagoons just waiting for you to drop in a fishing line, Carlsbad is the perfect place to sit back, relax, and shake off your worries! Now that you're nice and relaxed, let's get on the road to our final Southern California RV camping destination, San Diego. Getting back on I-5 S, with a merge onto I-805 S, and another merge onto CA-163 S leads us straight to this appealing southern California city. What's a trip to San Diego without a visit to Sea World, the Home of Shamu, the killer whale. Where else can you interact with animals in such an exciting and unique way? There are plenty of shows, displays and exhibits to make for a very exciting and educational day. Another must see in San Diego is the incredible Balboa Park. This is the largest urban cultural park in the nation, and home to 15 major museums, many performing arts venues, gardens, and the San Diego Zoo. There's always something happening here, and is well worth a visit. The city is a fabulously sunny and beautiful place to end our journey!
