Stayed here 5 nights, July 2015
I admit, I was concerned about it being sooo hot, in a camper, in Utah from reading other reviews. It seems to be difficult to find a campground with trees. Spanish trail is the place to be if you want some nice shade trees but not too big to interfere with your setup! I was afraid it was going to be brutally hot like other reviews I've read. I did not wanna come back to a sweltering hot camper after being out in the heat all day. I almost cancelled going to Utah. Thank goodness I live in 100 degree weather with 100 percent humidity, it made the "heat" in Utah quite a pleasure. It is NOT that hot in Utah! On with the review.....
I didn't make a reservation because that's how we planned our trip, no plan. I really didn't think we'd get a spot here, let alone for 5 nights. Called while we were on the road and they had a spot for us, no problem. Checking in, the staff were very friendly and gave us lots of info, very nice people. Pulled into the site easily, hooked up and we were good to go. I loved the concrete walk on the site, had nice shade trees on both sides, nice and clean table, it was perfect! There were a lot of campers there but it wasn't full. It was quiet, for the amount of people that were there, not much action going on, which to me is a good thing. Yes, there is some road noise but it's not that bad like I've read in other reviews. We were on the second row. There's one main road through Moab and every campground sits off of that road. You don't hear road noise in your camper at night.
The whole facility is great, bathrooms, very clean and comfortable to shower, laundry room, everything worked fine and I don't complain about the cost, it's not that bad, I don't mind paying, where else are you gonna go to wash and be able to sit by your camper comfortably and wait, with a beautiful view. It's not far from grocery stores or the shopping area. There's a gas station and a restaurant right across the street. We walked to it. Very convenient location and out of the chaos of downtown Moab. Too much going on down there for me. Easy ride to Arches, Canyonlands and Dead Horse. This was the perfect campground for us and what we like, quiet and away from the hustle and bustle.
Do not leave your awning out! We were lucky enough to experience a wind storm while there. We were warned! Wind started kicking and we jumped in our chairs to enjoy it. It was like sitting out in a hurricane without the rain, it was awesome, until the dust started stinging us and getting into our eyes. It was a lot of fun but that wind will rip your awning off. We did fold up our chairs and tuck things away at night because of the wind storms. It will take the chair!
This is the place to stay if you wanna be close to everything but away from it all. And, after seeing where all of the other campgrounds were we were even more pleased to be where we were. Every time we passed other campgrounds we said "thank goodness we got in Spanish trail"!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope we are able to have a chance to come back. I would recommend Spanish Trail to everyone I know!
