Without a doubt one of the best destinations we've been. The facilities are great. The local wildlife is amazing (bison, mule deer, etc). The access into the canyon is great, and the views themselves are incredible. Having been to the Grand Canyon in AZ, I didn't think that Caprock would impress me and as far as depth and size it doesn't, comparatively. But at Caprock you are able to walk straight into the canyon. The colors are vibrant and in your face. The color changes due to the time of day are remarkable. In fact, from an artistic approach, the abundance of yellow sunflowers, coupled with the reds/creams of the canyon, and the clear, texas blue of the sky make for excellent photography. If I ever find myself going through North Texas again, I will definitely be back to this site and the state park.

Caprock Canyons State Park is a very clean destination. Campsites are well-kept and easy to get into and out of. There is a bison herd that will amaze you, as you drive or hike. Multiple hiking trails with excellent scenery.
