This park was amazing. Not a ton of bells and whistles, but everything you need and more. They have , full hook ups, laundry, game room, pet areas, and a great new park. You can see the new owners making some great changes. Can't wait to see it all again next year.
We were here July 26 thru July 29. We had booked our site based on their site plan and google earth for trees etc. It was also based on their site info for a rig our size. I received my confirmation with the site we requested June 3rd. There was one section of this park we did not want to be in based on lack of trees and size of sites. When we check in on July 26th the gentleman in the office indicated we we in a different site. and guess what, it was in the area we did not want! We took the... Read More

It was one of the worse RV sites we have ever stayed in! My wife had to work for her company for a few days in Rapid City so we didn't rock the boat. Needless to say, we will not stay here in the future.

we picked this park because of it's proximity to friend's home. I had not read the reviews. The campground is really worn, not kept up. The picnic tables had been recently painted, but the rest of the park was really neglected. The first day, the restroom had no paper towels, hand soap or wastebasket. The second day, some paper towels appeared. The door said the restrooms were cleaned daily, but I'm sure no one ever went in there, because I continued to stack used paper towels on the counter,... The first day, the restroom had no paper towels, hand soap or wastebasket. The second day, some paper towels appeared. The door said the restrooms were cleaned daily, but I'm sure no one ever went in there, because I continued to stack used paper towels on the counter, as there was never any wastebasket. Also, there was one toilet that was not even bolted to the floor, and the showers looked really grungy. The temperature in the restroom was just high enough to keep it from freezing, but really not comfortable for April temperatures, but I wouldn't have used the showers anyway.
There was never anyone in the office, and another camper tried to alert them that a water main was leaking, but couldn't get in touch with anyone.
There was a nice fairly large grassy area for dogs, but it was not fenced and was adjacent to the highway. I'm surprised this has the Good Sam designation.

Good parts - the beautiful view from the top of the hill to the valley and close to Mt. Rushmore. However the site was not large enough for the 5th wheel and truck. And be cautious turning into the campground on northbound highway 16 - short view of oncoming traffic and a short check-in driveway once you pull in the park.
Stayed for a few nights in July 2021. An older park not well maintained. The roads were in poor condition. Built on the side of the hill. Had to disconnect our tow vehicle before entering the park. Entrance was very small so a second group checking in was almost on the highway. Nice views for the RV's parked at the bottom of the park. Site was not level, very short and very close to neighbors. The dog area at the bottom of the park was surrounded by a barbed wire fence which is not helpful... Read More

Nice views for the RV's parked at the bottom of the park. Site was not level, very short and very close to neighbors. The dog area at the bottom of the park was surrounded by a barbed wire fence which is not helpful to smaller dogs. Pool seemed to be in need of major repairs. As we travels to Mount Rushmore we passed a number of great looking RV parks. Would never stay at this park again.

Not sure where the high Good Sam rating came from. We trusted the high rating and were very disappointed. The sites were extremely small. Many of the Class A's could not park their tow vehicle at their site. We were in a Class C and could barely fit our tow vehicle at our site. We were one level down so not so much road noise. The pool seemed nice but was over crowded so due to Covid-19 we didn't feel comfortable using it. It did have a nice view over the city of Rapid City. Very close to Rapid... Read More

Very close to Rapid City shopping and not too bad of a drive to Mt. Rushmore. We won't stay again at this park and do recommend it to anyone.

This is an older park and not well maintained. The asphalt paved parking pads and roadways are narrow and crumbling. The park is built on a hillside which provided amazing views of the city below, but you have to be a mountain goat to get up and down to the restrooms or the swimming pool. There are a couple of designated pet areas, but the one closest to our campsite was not fenced and right next to the main highway past the park. 30 miles to Mt Rushmore and 40 miles to Crazy Horse Monument or... Very nice campground. Close enough to Mt Rushmore and also still near Rapid City for other attractions. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
We drove by this place because Good Sam had high ratings. I am not sure who those people are that rated this so highly but it wasn't even close. Look before you make reservations is my suggestion.
This RV park was not for us. The sites are extremely small and tight. There was no way we could have parked our 5h wheel and truck and opened our slideouts. We felt pretty deceived. I'm sure most people, like us, arriving here have had a long day, week or + driving and to arrive somewhere that is not kid or pet friendly was very frustrating. The park is off a major highway with road noise and a 5 second sprint for a kid or dog to get hit. We honestly thought we arrived at a storage unit for... Read More

We did not see the pool or other advertised amenities. The only reason we gave this site a 2 star
1. the second lady we encountered was very nice and friendly and understanding we couldnt stay here. We were still charged almost a full nights staybfor not stayin . Slightly understandable but we certainly would have felt happier had we gotten a full refund less the $5 cancel fee.
2.this would be a great spot for someone who is parking their RV and leaving (with no dogs or kids) . It is in a good location to head to Mt Rushmore and other attractions in the same area.

It was so foggy that we didn't get to see much. The lady at the front desk was amazing!
This is one the most poorly maintained Good Sam RV parks we have ever stayed in. The grass at each sight is unmowed, the roads are in terrible shape, the bathrooms are outdated, and the site picnic table is terrible. Took a long time to check in with not very friendly folks. No cable. Not sure how Good Sam can recommend this place??
Very disappointing. Does not warrant a rating of even a 5. Current good rating is misleading and unacceptable.
Facility is very tight for motorhome. Had to disconnect car before pulling in and reconnect after pulling out. Sewer kept backing up each time I dumped grey/black tank. Facility appears to be undergoing rebuild with new water and power. WiFi was excellent.
Stayed here on a long awaited vacation, and overall we where pleased. The location is good and convenient. Nice view overlooking Rapid city. Staff was friendly and helpful, laundry room was adequate and enough machines to get done and back to vacationing. The WIFI was slow but thats typical in RV parks. ATT phone had good signal so LTE Hot spot worked great. Plenty of over air TV channels so we never put out the satellite. Only downside would be the age, simply because the sites are close together.... Read More

And roads are a bit narrow. If you can't operate your rig in tight spaces you may be better else where. But as long as you can truly handle your rig its a real nice place to stay and there is enough room to get around safely.

We stayed in lot 315. Sites are narrow and tiered so that walking on either side of RV was rather tricky. Toy hauler ramp was in road when down. Had to park truck across road in order to fit bicycles and paddle boards in front of rig. Bathroom is updated and clean. We didn't use pool but looked well-kept and clean. Staff were all friendly. Great view of Rapid City from far end of campground.
This is our campground of choice when in the area as it is close to family. Owner/host is very friendly and knowledgeable of area. Your escorted to site as it is tiered and one wrong turn and you would need to make another loop! Sites are "tight" with enough room for vehicle and camper. We have never utilized laundry or shower facilities but areas look clean and well kept. There is a good sized pool and this trip noticed it was well used as temps were unseasonably warm. All gas services are... Read More

All gas services are in area, Wal-Mart, Safeway, and many fast food options.
Rushmore Road is undergoing a major street repair so be patient patience :)

We have been here for over a week to see the area and, in my opinion, some of the reviews both on Yelp and Good Sam are unfair. This isn't a destination RV park. It's a home base for seeing the many sights here. The sites are narrow, but there are plenty of big rigs here, including us. There are 3 dog walk areas, and they are not fenced (as one reviewer noted), but few RV parks do have fenced areas. The dog walks are well-maintained, mowed and watered. In the time we have been here, never has there been any sewage odor. They did turn the water off once for about 30 minutes, but we were warned. Wifi is not great but not terrible. The pool could use a coat of paint, but the water is clear, clean and refreshing and the paint is cosmetic. It is close to the highway, but that's a convenience, actually. If we ever get back to this area, we won't hesitate staying here.

I'll tell you the good things first. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal, close to town and shopping yet on a quiet hill with fantastic views of the city far below. Now for the bad, the park shows its age, old sites that are very short and narrow. So narrow that our picknic table sat on the tilt between our site and the person below us. We have a 39 foot 5th wheel and it barely fit on our site and our truck had to squeeze between the trailer and a tree, barely fit. The... Read More

We have a 39 foot 5th wheel and it barely fit on our site and our truck had to squeeze between the trailer and a tree, barely fit. The pads were once blacktop but are now disintegrated. This park needs a infusion of money to bring it back to life and even that may not help. There are so many nice RV parks in the area, but this is not one of them.

This RV Park is badly in need of repairs. Sewer smell was rampant, and the park is clearly not kept up. One small trash receptacle was provided for the whole park. Park should be renamed "Weed City"!
The campground is in a state of general disrepair. The sites are somewhat level but rough dirt surfaces. Some sites have partial pavement. The full hookup services are satisfactory. There are many other campgrounds in the area that would have been a much better choice for the price paid.
We have family in the Rapid City area and stay at this site. It is an older campground but has many of the amenities found at newer facilities. It does have the most fantastic views of the city's evening lights. Grounds are clean and well maintained. It is a peaceful setting and 30 miles to Mt. Rushmore or Crazy Horse, as well as other tourist activities. Owners are friendly and knowledgeable of area services.
On a hill but fairly level sites. Ample space between sites. My site was well shaded. Quiet with fantastic view of city lights at night. Close to everything.
