The only positive thing about this park is it's proximity to town and the fact that it is on the trolley route. It is overpriced and unwelcoming with poor maintenance and cleanliness. Our site was overgrown and unlevel. The bathrooms had not been cleaned prior to our arrival or during our stay. Only 3 of the toilet stalls and 2 of the shower stalls were operational and there wasn't any electricity. There were signs everywhere telling you what to do and not do. I don't know how it got such high... Read More

Owner of campground is horrible. We arrived (4 total RV's) an hour early as there check in is 1pm. The owner was in the office and told me if we wanted to check in an hour early we had to pay $30 each. I asked her where we could park for an hour and she said "not here, you can be on site" We moved to a parking lot about a mile away for an hour. When we returned, there was only one young lady working in the office with a long line of people checking in. They show wifi included, but if... Read More

They show wifi included, but if you get more than 50 feet from the office, the wifi is non existent. Sites are very narrow and not long. A couple of people staying there had their tow vehicles in front to their travel trailers but the front of the tow vehicle was in the street. I saw the owner yelling at them to move their trucks to the parking area down near the office area.

Booked thru travel agent for 3 rv's, in March. Prepaid, nonrefundable. Placement did not fit 2 large rvs, 40 & 35 ft. had to move. Moved to area where truck could not be with rv, had to park across road. Itinerary stayed space allotment for 60 and 55 ft respectively. Office personnel said we would have to pay $30+ daily. Lawns not mowed, showers unclean, no hooks for clothes or towels. Dead tree at space. Offered to cut branches as unable to pull thru to depart, also rubs when wind blows. Told waiting... Read More

Told waiting for branches to bud...tree clearly dead with crack down middle. Waited in shade for trolley. Sat on picnic table on lawn, it collapsed. Office next a.m. said it was private lawn. Signs said park here for rv registration. A back door had a sign saying private entrance. Would not take name regarding incident altho table collapsed on top of me. Only 1 screw held all together. Hurt/sore back, arm and leg bruising. No working laundry, no game room. Very poor management and upkeep. We saw many other well maintained parks. Several other guests had similar experiences, yet had to stay as it was nonrefundable. Others just pulled in and then left in disgust.

The sites are very close together and cramped. Picnic table was not even close to being level and right next to the neighbor's sewer connection. Men's and woman's restrooms both the same. 3 stalls available in each, one working in each. The shower was a real joke. Sure, there is a shuttle to town, but it is a long steep walk to get back to your site. Wi-Fi is non existent. We couldn't have been much more disappointed in this place. How it could have the rating it does is beyond me. The only good... Read More

We camped at Whistler's Gulch RV Park during the first week of May 2019. Easily found this campground and got checked in. After seeing our campsite we requested a change to another campsite in order to have some grass for our dogs. It was rainy and the ground was very muddy otherwise. The owner / manager was very pleasant and moved us to a much better campsite. Our campsite was close enough to level that I didn't need to work to level our motorhome further. The scenery in the "gulch" wasn't what I'd call beautiful, howeverI must add that it was early enough that none of the deciduous trees or shrubs had leaves on them yet. Perhaps later in the spring or summer the esthetics of the campsite would improve, but in early May it wasn't very nice. In our campsite we had full hookups with 30 amp power, water and sewer for $57 a night with a Good Sam discount. Deadwood is an overpriced gambling town this campsite should cost at least $20 less per night less for the condition of the campground. We didn't use or inspect the public restroom facilities during this one night stay. Overall, next time through the Black Hills, I would stay somewhere else. I thought the cost was too high for the value of what you get.

Though perfectly located there are problems. The park is located in a narrow gulch this in itself poses problems with cell phone service (vurtualy none). WIFI was weak and faded in and out. There is difficulty navigating roads (narrow) especially entry road. During my stay the people in the site next to me had their 5th wheel jacked up doing repairs through the night. People operating were nice, however there is need for updates, improvements and attention to what is going on in the park. OK... Read More

This rv park is disgusting and we will never, ever, stay there again. How this park got a 9.5 rating by Good Sam is a mystery. The restrooms and showers were filthy, our fire ring had beer cans and trash in it when we arrived. We told the owner and we were told that they had been too busy to clean. The trash was overflowing so much at the dumpster site that we were unable to take out our trash. The owner told us the trash trust had not come the previous day to empty the dumpster. There were... The trash was overflowing so much at the dumpster site that we were unable to take out our trash. The owner told us the trash trust had not come the previous day to empty the dumpster. There were drunk, rowdy, disruptive people at this park the entire time we were there. They climbed onto the roofs of their rv'S and drank beer and yelled at the top of their lungs. We told the owner, and showed the woman at the desk a picture of them doing this and nothing was done. This is definitely not a park for families with children. When we made the reservation we told the woman on the phone that we had a 35 foot long motorcoach with a tow trailer. We were promised a 61 ft site. The site we were given was not large enough for the coach and our car stuck out in the roadway. We were lied to. This park has everyone jammed in much too closely. It is not safe. If you have a motorcoach and they do not give you a pull through, do not stay here. Your coach could get damaged. Our trailer was hit while we were there. The price is also high. We paid $45.00 per night for two nights to stay in a loud, disruptive, dirty, dump of a park. Never again! Never.

The location with respect to town is awesome. The park itself is another story. The park is located in a gulch. This in itself creates issues. Hard to get either cell phone or TV reception. The campground is long and narrow with the office close up front. The further you go away from the office, no WI-FI. Put all three together ... no communications with the outside world. The facilities are older and need updating. The office looks cool from the outside but becomes very boring once you enter. Very... Read More

The employees working when I checked in were nice ... well they were not rude. They hardly spoke and had difficulty operating the check-in system. The layout of the campground is awkward. as you go up the gulch, your campsite starts getting more slanted. Our picnic table sloped from left to right about 10-12 inches. The only flat spot on our site was the gravel pad we parked our 5th wheel and truck on. No additional room for a table. We could not even sit outside on level ground without sitting under our tongue. If you don't want to communicate with the grandchildren or check email or sit outside, or use the facilities, or watch any TV, this is your campground for location only.

Very nice owners. We had problems with our refridgerator and they helped by storing our food for us and gave us the name of a nearby repair facility

Good Sam has this rating for restrooms all wrong. They were horrible, mold growing in the showers, white PVC pipe ran for the showers with a wee tiny shower head, no water pressure. The park is nice, lots are roomy but not worth the money charged.
