Stayed here 2 times a week apart with advance reservations. Very nice RV Park. Concrete sites are nice size and all roads are paved. Roads between sites are narrow making backing of long RVs into sites interesting. Will definitely select pull thru if I visit again. On 1st stop, while we were there, the Park held a Halloween Trick or Treat night which was nice for the children at the park. Cable TV offered few popular channels. On 2nd stay, we lost Cable for about 12 hours. Wi-Fi was fast but not continuous. Children/Teens zipped around (exceeding the 5.5 mph speed limit) on motorized scooters (no helmets) and golf carts which violates the Park rule of required drivers license to operate a motorized item. On Trick or Treat night, one site was setting off fireworks again a violation of Park rules. As we were pulling out with our 40 ft 5th wheel, I was driving the speed limit and was pass by 2 young boys (est 9-11 yrs) on motorized scooters. RV Park did not appear to enforce their own safety rules. On arriving both stays, RVs were lined up waiting to get in. Check-in process was very slow.

Before I get into the details let me say, in ten years of full-time RVing across North America, my husband and I have never felt unsafe in a campground – that is until April 12, 2025, while staying at Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore RV Park. What started as a simple rule violation spiraled into harassment, threats and an escape plan, all because management turned a blind eye. So, buckle up for a wild tale from the road – and what I hope is a wakeup call for campgrounds everywhere. I say that because I will be sharing this post on RV forums like iRV2, RVforum.net and Reddit’s r/RVLiving. We checked into the Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore RV Park, located in Ponchatoula, Louisiana on April 10, 2025, for three nights. Expecting the usual; a quiet site and a chance to recharge before we continued on our journey back to Canada. Their welcome brochure promised a “family friendly atmosphere” with clear rules. I would like to point out two rules in particular, “Please use camping etiquette. Do not walk through occupied sites” and “Harassment or offensive or intolerant language or actions will not be tolerated in any form” – I point these out in particular because those two rules crumbled fast when tested. It started small. Two teenage boys decided to use our site as a short cut to the pool area. I was in the motorhome and overheard Rick politely state that our site wasn’t a walkway and could they please walk around. They simply shrugged, laughed at him and kept going. Initially we thought, no big deal, kids just need to be asked not to do something, and they usually stop, right? But not these two – these two came back again, and again, each time a little bolder then that last. Interesting enough, later on, several teenage girls and an adult male did the exact same. Somehow it felt very coordinated, like our site became a group of people’s shortcut playground. We asked each and every person who did this; “please don’t walk through our site” – all met with more laughter and more defiance. It became clear that this was a game now – the two boys being the main players, escalating to riding their bikes and stopping at our site only to heckle and taunt us into a confrontation. We contacted the office to report the ongoing trespassing violations and out right harassment. I asked if they would help us solve the problem, because I had a gut feeling that it was going to get out of hand – after all we could identify the two boys at this point. I even asked if they had any caution tape so we could rope off our site. We were told to simply put our lawn chairs on the grass to obstruct their pathway, which we did. However, that didn’t stop them – I even tried to reason with them only to be met with more defiance – the oldest boy got braver and actually threatened us, stating; ” You wait and see what happens to you and your wife later”. It was at this point that I thought this wasn’t kids’ stuff anymore, he has threatened us now and I immediately contacted the office again to tell them the situation as predicted had escalated. It was only then that management decided to get involved and sent an employee to our site to investigate. For whatever reason, it was clear to us that this employee didn’t take the situation serious enough, he had a nonchalant attitude, citing “They’re kids” completely brushing off the threat as if it was nothing. Kids don’t threaten people’s safety I told him, and if you won’t do anything, can you please call the local police for us.” He didn’t like that, his tone turned condescending, and he walked away from us. We had no idea what if anything he was going to do. Moments later as we were sitting down at the picnic table to eat the dinner we were preparing during all this chaos, the same boy who threatened us circled back to our site on his bike, rode directly toward my husband and our little dog who was beside him, forcing my husband to leap up to shield them. The kid sped off laughing loudly like it was a game. Within minutes of this incident the original employee and another male employee returned to our site along with the two boys, a hysterical mother and a male adult identified as an uncle to one of the boys. It’s worth pointing out that the uncle and the adult male who trespassed on our site earlier are one and the same. The mother was screaming that my husband had grabbed her son which was a blatant lie. We fervently denied the allegation and insisted that the local police attend. Little did any of these people know, Rick had recorded much of the harassment and the threatening on his cellphone, which later proved our story to the police. The Aftermath: The police arrived, reviewed our footage, and confirmed the truth: no grabbing, just harassment and threats. The mother, and the uncle acted like it was over, even offered up apologies – management however had nothing to say to us. Even after the police left, it appeared that the boys either weren’t told to stay away from us or didn’t care even if they were told to. They continued to ride their bikes in front and behind our site, making their presence known, acting like they’d won. We didn’t press charges, hoping it would end there, but it wasn’t over for us. We didn’t trust those boys, or their uncle for that matter wouldn’t act on their threat overnight. Management’s refusal to take the situation seriously left us no choice: we packed up, left our third paid night behind as the sunset and drove 68 miles stopping at the first available place to park for the night -a Love’s Truck Stop that thankfully had an available RV site, shelling out $60 bucks in order to feel safe. We reported the events to Sun Communities immediately in an effort to bring to their attention the fact that they must enforce their rules and policies, and that RVers deserve to feel safe. We have also requested reimbursements for our lost night and the subsequent additional out of pocket expense associated with having to find accommodations elsewhere. We even asked for an apology but aren’t counting on receiving one – we all know big corporations don’t like to admit fault. Sun Communities Customer Care Department has acknowledged receipt of our email/letter indicating that they had sent our concerns to their corporate management team and requested that they contact us regarding these issues. They asked us to please allow two business days for a follow-up conversation to take place; and to let them know if we do not hear anything within that time and they will follow-up with their team. As directed, we sent a follow up email to Sun Communities Customer Care department one week ago, indicating that we had not been in contact with their management team. As of today, we have received no reply to the follow up email nor any communications from their management team. I prepared this post while on the road back to Canada but decided to hold off posting it for a couple of reasons. The main reason was we were hoping to have had a resolution by now and could share what that looked like with you, however that is not the case. Hopefully we will have one soon -either way we’ll keep you in the loop on our progress. We stayed here 3 nights while visiting New Orleans. There were not a lot of people here during the last week of September, so it was very quiet. The park has concrete roads and concrete sites. The park is very clean with lot of available activities. Will definitely stop by here again. We camped at Reunion Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

First off this is a mostly brand new park. Unfortunately, I think it is a little overpriced. $65 for a pull thru in a part of the country and State of Louisiana where there is not allot to do or see. Most people who RV look for places to visit and explore. About 30 miles from Baton Rouge and a little farther to New Orleans. Staying at Reunion Lake, you had better have a FAT Wallet. This was a great park. Easy access on and off the interstate. We only stayed two nights, but would love to return during their season to take full advantage of their swim up bars. We did enjoy the pool, spa, and lazy river. Would definitely recommend this park and will stay here again.

Great campground. Have stayed here during the summer and always had positive experience. Stayed here in November and it was very quiet during the week. Not happy about restrooms being closed during building renovation that were normally open. Our site was pretty far from only open restroom/showers but we made it work. Level concrete sites with good hookups. Have friends in the area and will always stay at Reunion Lake when visiting Ponchatoula.

We are from Texas, and will definitely return ! The owner and GM are just as everyone describes, they really care and listen to suggestions ! The owner is a past Louisiana Police Officer, so he does not put up with any bull - which we like ! A couple of things to mention, they have a high-definition cable system at the campsites. This means not all TV's work, but they did the required upgrades coming to all of us now, so eventually we will all have to comply. This means, depending on your TV age, the cable might not work at your site. Don't worry, if you get in a jam, there are several stations you can scan over antenna as a backup. Also, they told us they were going to make a change on their billing, you should be able to get a Folio printout with your charges as you leave, or have one emailed to you if you do not settle when you checkout and are charged. We had a minor issue, which they fixed immediately, but realized a change was in order to help everyone. Great destination for families ! Can't wait to return.

When we stayed it was during the week after kids were back in school so there were very few spots occupied. Beautiful resort. Definitely a family type resort as there are tons of stuff for kids. Everything was clean and well maintained.

Level concrete pads and easy utility hookups. Plenty of room to park the toad behind our 40' coach. Park was pretty full as it was Memorial Day weekend but the staff handled everything well. Due to heavy rains there was lots of mud and many of the dog park users didn't pick up after their pets so it was not a place we wanted to let the dogs run. Laundry was clean and showers/restrooms were in great shape. We had to change our reservations a couple times and the staff was very accommodating and pleasant... Read More

That being said, this park has it all to be a destination! There are separate pools for adults and children. There is a huge adults-only hot tub for which you must have a blue or green wrist band. Obviously, that is not enforced as there were two young boys swimming laps in it and they were completely ignored by the roving security officer! The Lazy River is so much fun! There are lake activities and they looked amazing for kids but they are very pricy- $25.00 per day per person. Unfortunately for us there was a lot of rain. Our site was so muddy we couldn't even walk on the "grassy" area. The WiFi was ok but it is an extra charge. This place is going to be huge when finished! We would like to return in a few years when the grass has time to grow and fill in so it's less muddy!

I thought it was a bit pricey at $72.80 per night plus we were charged $8.00 per day for WIFI. That is high! We were traveling and tired so we paid it because we needed to pay some bills online. I also noticed that they charge for the water attractions, I would think that would be included in the high price of staying here. For an overnight stay it was nice, but I think they need to revisit their pricing or at lease make it all inclusive, families cannot afford $25 per day per kid or $100 a week per kid to use the water attractions part of their park, I have never seen a RV Resort charge for those things. We were there in May before Memorial Day weekend.
