Another decent Florida state park. Good walking on park road. We did not do any of the trails except along the river which is very interesting as at one point it goes underground and surfaces at another park. Bath house is clean, but old. We were in site #18, which was fairly separated from the others. Like many Florida state parks the sites are sand and dirt. If they ever were changed to gravel the ratings would soar! Water and electric at all sites. Some of the historic buildings were closed.... Read More

We choose O'Leno because it's close to Gainesville where my daughter lives and closer to where she works. The 61 sites with hook ups are divided between two loops, Dogwood and Magnolia. Dogwood is the first loop inside the park. Near the entrance to Dogwood is a dumpster and aluminum can recycling bin. About 30 back in sites on the inside of the loop most with paths to the large bathroom. There is plenty of room and trees between sites, most are level or close to and despite what it says above I... The 61 sites with hook ups are divided between two loops, Dogwood and Magnolia. Dogwood is the first loop inside the park. Near the entrance to Dogwood is a dumpster and aluminum can recycling bin. About 30 back in sites on the inside of the loop most with paths to the large bathroom. There is plenty of room and trees between sites, most are level or close to and despite what it says above I haven't seen any that couldn't handle slide outs. Some sites would be challenging to get a large rig into.
Sites have electric and water only, the dump station is about a mile down the road next to the Magnolia loop. It has a hose for clean up afterwards.
No cable but our antenna found 12 stations.
Every site has a picnic table and truck wheel fire ring, ours even has a pot holder.
The host campsite is also in the middle of the loop near the bathroom.
This is the quietest campground we have ever been in but during the summer with kids out of school your results may vary.
If you are traveling with kids you might prefer the Magnolia loop which is next to the playground, nature center, under cover picnic tables and more trails than you'll ever hike.
6 miles south is High Springs, there is a Winn-Dixie, auto parts, Bealls, Subway and pizza. On the way there are launch sites for canoe and kayaks.
The Park Rangers man the gate dawn to dusk. There is a $5 fee for guest coming to visit. After hours you'll need a combination to get in.
