We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely this county park is! We were only able to stay 2 nights but the campground is beautiful and well maintained. The staff are pleasant and the store is really nice. We will definitely stay again! By the way, we stayed at site 31 and loved the location. We passed by 50 and 51...those are small, oddly shaped/situated sites that I would not book unless it was my only choice. I hope that's helpful to someone.

Very nice, wooded park. Camp store carries plenty of supplies and also arranged a pick up for us into town to take the Gray Line City tour of Charleston, which was very good. The park itself is huge and there is no swimming nearby, but other parts of the park likely offer that. Park was quiet, well maintained, and the restrooms/showers were cleaned twice a day, so overall a very good park, and we would certainly go back again.

First time visiting this campground and I'll definitely be back! The road you take to get to the campground is a little narrow but very doable if you pay attention. We had site 63 and it was very easy to back into. The bathhouse is very clean and well maintained. Campground was quiet and tons to do especially in warmer days. They have nice walking trails and it's very close to downtown Charleston.

This park is a quick drive from Charleston and very convenient for visiting the city. Only caution is the large trees that are planted very close to the road on the last two streets approaching the park (Central Park Rd. and Riverland Dr.). Our travel trailer is only 9.5 feet high at the center peak with curved sides so we did not experience any issues however would think large squared off 5th wheels would need to be cautious. That said there were many large 5th wheels and motor homes camping... Read More

Our travel trailer is only 9.5 feet high at the center peak with curved sides so we did not experience any issues however would think large squared off 5th wheels would need to be cautious. That said there were many large 5th wheels and motor homes camping in the park so obviously they managed the roadways. Most of the park's spaces are fairly generous in size and are almost all wooded - however many on the south side of the loops would probably not provide line-of-sight to southern satellites for TV service. The store is well stocked and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The park has a number of amenities to entertain kids and pets including a very large fenced dog park swimming area (large very accessible pond) which was getting a lot of use when we were there. The park is large and far enough from the highways in the area that road noise wasn't an issue. The laundry facilities were excellent and clean. We didn't use or check out the restrooms. We were not their during a rainly period so didn't experience any of the standing water issues mentioned by other reviewers.

This is a very nice park. We camped here and the facilities and staff were great. We did not use the bathrooms but did check them out, they were good. Shower stalls had doors you could latch and not just curtains. Bathrooms also had washer and dryers available. For the most part the sites are close to each other, some were VERY close to each other and shared drive ways when backing in. If you know your neighbor, this would be fine. No problems with utilities. Awesome biking trails here mostly,... Read More

For the most part the sites are close to each other, some were VERY close to each other and shared drive ways when backing in. If you know your neighbor, this would be fine. No problems with utilities. Awesome biking trails here mostly, if not all, paved. Paved trails are in great shape and fine for skating/roller blades. The splash zone looked really awesome though we did not use it. If we had grandkids with us they would have loved it. There was also a very nice playground for kids. Fishing pier for salt water fishing and crabbing. Also fresh water lake for fishing. There was a dog park next to fresh water lake and dogs can go swimming at this location. I have read previous reviews in regards to flooding issues. We had a site that flooded, site 75. This was a decent site otherwise. The flood took over the picnic table, fire ring, and a perfect spot for a tent if you had a tent and camper. Camper spot was fine. It took all day for the water to drain and it really wasn't completely drained until the next day. The location of the park is great for exploring the Charleston area. It was quick and easy to get to the other side of Charleston to visit Patriots Point. Folly Beach was a few minutes away and a good beach. The county park at Folly Beach has great facilities which are new. We rode our bikes around and decided pull-thru site 29 is probably the best site there, size and privacy. Site 110 is second choice. Our primary goal is when sitting outside that the living area not be staring at neighbors or road. 29 has nice buffer of trees between site and road. 110 has nice buffer between site and next site. 110 has minor water issues, basically pool of water where the utilities are, so for a camper, back side wheels could be in water. We have booked a return visit June 2021 and have site 29!

Very nice, well managed, clean mature campground. Store is stocked very well with lots of experience in what campers need. Lots of space at most sites and the mature growth between sites gives you privacy. The small limbs of new growth that extend over your camper directly in your "space" could be trimmed back a little more often as this is a path for ants and bugs. The sites are a fine crush run type gravel that really cause a mess with your shoes and in your campers...especially if it's raining... Read More

The sites are a fine crush run type gravel that really cause a mess with your shoes and in your campers...especially if it's raining and wet, as it was during our stay. This is the only negative I experienced and it's something they could and should upgrade with the steady income they experience. Bathrooms and showers are first class, as they have just been completely remodeled. Water tends to stand around the area when raining but this is the coastal flats region and to be expected. Take lots of bug repellent and burn citronella candles at night. Roads are excellent...off leash dog park is one of a kind and activity areas are great for kids. take your bikes...you can ride for miles on perfectly managed path throughout the park. I will return!!

Beautiful park with most sites shaded and roomy. The restrooms and laundry were being renovated, but we were warned about this when we made our reservations and given a discount for the inconvenience. Shuttles to Charleston and the beach are provided for a fee.

We came back for the Xmas lights and we were not disappointed. We have stayed here before and have always enjoyed the downtown scene. Plenty of places to visit in and around the area. The site was clean and level. The bathrooms were nice with laundry. The walking and bike paths are great. Would recommend this campground and will be back in the future. My wife and I have this CG as #1 on our list of Fav's.

Stayed here for total eclipse, very good level sites with full hook ups and WiFi. Staff very friendly and helpful, perfect location for site seeing Charleston, we utilized their shuttle service to get to and from Charleston which was excellent as well as free bus service once you are in Charleston. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay here again.

Second time and has proven to be THE campground for visiting Charleston. Short drive to Folly Beach, downtown Charleston, and growing retail-commercial area, all less than 10 minutes from the campground. Sites are close but segregated and private. Bathhouses are not A/C (didn't use). Park has waterpark, hiking-bike trail, fishing and dog park.

Unusually good County Park! Good sites, mostly level, quite private. Very clean Bath House. cleaned at least twice daily. The park itself is very impressive. Lots of locals use it because of: 1) Outstanding Water Park, complete with Lazy River 2) Great recreational lake for kayaks, canoes 3) the Outdoor Zone, a fully equipped rock climbing wall, a ropes course, slack-line course 4) Great bikepath/trail system It is very close to downtown Charleston, and there is a $10 Round trip shuttle to take... This is our type of campground. The campground is inside the park. The park close at 8:00. There is no outside traffic except for campers that can go in and out after hours. They give campers a code to use. A lot of the sites are surrounded by trees/bushes so you have privacy. Most are very spacious. We had two different sites when we stayed. I understand that they are very strict on their Quiet Time rules, which is fine by us. The park is beautiful, with plenty of bike/hiking paths. The lake is pretty. There is plenty to do at the park itself. The campground and park is very pet friendly. To understand how much we liked this campground...we arrived on a Sunday, supposed to leave on Wednesday and head on down to Savannah. After an hour, we requested to stay all week. The staff was very helpful. We had to move to another site, but that was ok.

A Great camping experience each and every time we visit. Wonderful Festival of Lights for Christmas. Third year and have already made reservations for next November. Of course, we will be visiting in the spring and summer. Close to beaches and great bicycle paths all around the park!

Very nice facilities. We stayed during Christmas week and throughly enjoyed the lights and displays. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We plan on making this our new Christmas tradition!
