Very good RV park with long sites. There is a nice indoor pool and they provide a shuttle to abd f4om the Big Texan Steakhouse, which is an excellent restaurant. The jacuzzi and sauna are adults only. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will stay here again.

his was our first stay at Big Texan. We enjoyed the friendly staff, the escort to site and the pool. The complimentary shuttle by limo to the steakhouse is an unusual plus! The steakhouse did not disappoint with super friendly service, good food and a fun atmosphere. We would definitely stay again.

Good for a 1-2 night stay right off the freeway. We didn't go to the restaurant but that is a nice benefit. The office staff were nice and helpful. My facility/appeal rating is because they allow someone to live there who displays political banners and flags on their site, right near the office so you can't miss them going in and out. I think it's best for business when a business keeps neutral and doesn't allow this, especially at a park where people are on vacation and coming in to relax and enjoy... Read More

We had a great day everything was super clean and the entire staff was so helpful. They even have their staff escort you to your space. The spaces are large and they all have picnic tables. The only thing we couldn’t do is set up our pet enclosure which our dogs love.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, escort to site, level sites with picnic table. There is a small gift shop, public patio with grilles and tables. The pool and hot tub are inside, hot ub is a step in on top on the pool deck.. They also have a shuttle to and from The Big Texan steak restaurant mostly on the hour.

We always stay here for a least a couple days on our way home in the spring. Easy on easy off of I40. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, escort to site, level sites with picnic table. There is a small gift shop, public patio with grilles and tables and 3 enclosed dog areas. The pool and hot tub are inside and well kept up. They also have a shuttle to and from The Big Texan steak restaurant. This is definitely one of the best campgrounds for the money we have stayed at.

Stayed one night in late June 2021. Very nice RV park. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Had 3 separate well maintained Dog parks. Only down side was since only staying 1 night, we were in an area that was all gravel.

Great, friendly, helpful staff, Excellent, attractive facilities. We did not use the restroom. Asphalt roads and rock parking pads. We have used this RV park annually since 2017.

Everything's bigger in Texas. Stayed one night in site P8 in 35' Class A with toad. This is a very large modern park. My site was relatively level gravel, large site, good hook ups. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had dinner delivered to my rig from Big Texan Steak Ranch. I'm sure the park had more to offer that I didn't take advantage of. Would absolutely stay again if in the area.

We stopped for one night going and coming from Utah. This is a great park to overnight at. They provide escort to the site and answer all questions we had. It is quiet even with an interstate 100 yards away. We will stay here again and have used this stop multiple times in the past. They do have a large number of long term users and some of those units are showing their age. Cannot beat it for an overnight spot. Some GPS systems that are not updated may not take you the most direct way since... Read More

We were double pulling a UTV behind a 5th wheel, about 65 feet long including tow vehicle. When making reservations we always make sure we disclose this because a lot of places can't accomodate us. Curb was high enough that the back of our UTV trailer actually drug until it got leveled out. I'm sure its a very nice place, just not for big rigs and I really didn't appreciate having to jump curbs. Another side note. If you are approaching from the west be cautious, as our GPS took us through a subdivision, past a school (as they were letting out) and into the campground through a back way.

Under no circumstances should you stay more than one night here. We booked a full hookup pull-through site over a month in advance for a weeks stay. We were called on the day of our reservation and told we were being moved to a back-in site on the edge of the park since we were staying for a week as it would be "quieter". When we arrived we were ushered to the very back of the campground to the long term area about as far as possible from the dog run, laundry room and other amenities. When we complained,... Read More

When we complained, we were told the pull-through sites were reserved for overnight guests and if we didn't like our site they would give us a refund and we could go someplace else. This place is about half trailer park and half overnight stays. Staff was nice enough (aside from telling us we could leave if we didn't like it) park is old and sites are very close together. WIFI is spotty at best. Also park is not exactly in a great part of town. Would not stay here again. Don't understand how they ever got the rating that Good Sam gave them.

Large pull thru sites, semi-level, dirt and gravel. Not as nice as seen on website. Staff was nice and friendly but failed to call Big Texan restaurant limo service after scheduling us to be picked up at 5. We waited 25 min and had to call limo service ourselves and wait for 6pm pickup.

First RV park we've EVER stayed at. We were driving our new RV from Alvarado, TX to Albuquerque, NM and stopped in Amarillo for the night. After 6 hours of my first RV trip, I was really ready to rest! We arrived a little after 7, so they had called me mid-afternoon to confirm we were coming and gave us instructions for after-hours checkin. The next morning, we had a chance to look around. I doubt any RV parks are glorious to look at, but I appreciated that they had curved streets, so it didn't just look like row after row of RVs, but like a little neighborhood. Plenty of dumpsters around to get rid of trash. A nice "club house" with necessities as well as gift items. Friendly staff. The restrooms were a bit stark...but serviceable. The bar is now pretty high for RV parks of the future for us. (By the way, we had never eaten at The Big Texan even after years of driving past it. We decided to celebrate there. Call them and they will send a limo over to the RV park to transport you! That was fun, and frankly, since we didn't have a tow car...a big cost savings over Uber.)

Nice friendly staff but that cannot make up for the ageing of the facilities. Need some updating. I have stayed before because of the limo service to the Big Texan steak house. Take advantage of it.

The Big Texan RV Park in Amarillo says they have 50 amp service but as we found out all they have is a 50 amp receptical that can't support 50 amps. Their employee said this was through out the whole park. Also we were told not to run all 3 of our air conditioners because it can only handle two AC's at a time. The breaker kept tripping off when using 3 AC's. This most likely is due to the wire gage being too small to carry the amps needed to support 50 amps. Just be aware if you plan on using 3... Grounds were maintained, but not without patchy grass / dirt areas. Checked into taking the shuttle to the Big Texan steak house. It runs at the top of the hour, and you need to give them a half hours notice. Called the restaurant, and learned they don't take reservations, and there was an hour wait. Glad we didn't just go over. Overall, decent park depending on your expectations. It's an older park that could use a facelift. I almost gave a 3 star rating, but the staff was so accommodating and friendly, that they earned 4 stars.

Nice park BUT there is one negative. Campground is adjacent to a facility that has outdoor music venue. Music on Friday and Saturday didn't stop until after 10pm. Sleeping before the music stops is difficult. Campground otherwise is good. Very friendly staff. Class A 36ft. Plenty of room.

The park is a mix of long term residents and a section of sites for the short term RVers. Our site was pull through, gravel and just long enough for our rig and tow vehicle. The park is an easy on and off of I-40 and good for visiting the area or for an overnight stop. We did not check out the amenities, but can confirm that the wifi worked reasonably well. We would stay here again when in the area.

Registration was easy. Site was mostly level, though there was some freeway noise. We didn't have the right fitting for their sewer connection so I didn't use that. Lots of dumpsters. We took advantage of the free limo ride to the steakhouse and had a much better meal than expected. Easy on and off so would probably stay here again.

A great place right off I-40 with no highway noise. The best wifi of any campground we have been to. Most short stays of less than a week were in very large pull through sites. All sites are gravel, water pressure was on the high side and our sewage connection was elevated 6 inches above ground which required walking the hose (always fun).

3 3 out of 5 stars 03/26/2017

This is okay for a short stay. Sites are crowded together and gravel, but fairly level. Decent wifi, clean showers with good water pressure, friendly and helpful staff. I did enjoy the hot tub and indoor pool. It's easy on-off for I-40.

Set up of park a little tight but we had no problems pulling our 40' 5th wheel through park. We just walked and mapped out the best route out of park so there would be no issues when leaving in morning. Easy on and off of interstate. Highly recommend, and would stop here again.

Fine overnight stay. However, this is one of the most odd park layouts I've seen. The pull-thrus are back to back with an 'alley' like road between them. The problem is there are transformer boxes and vehicles parked in the alley so I don't understand how we were expected to 'pull thru' and exit. We arrived after the office was closed and before they opened, so in fairness to the park, we did not have the opportunity for instruction. We were very disappointed that there is no WIFI in the park nor is there cable hook up. The brochure shows both. We were not told this when we checked in and even got a WIFI password but you have to go to clubhouse to use it. The brochure shows 95 channels but again go to the clubhouse to use it.

I was here for 1night. While the common facilities looked nice, that is where the appeal ended. The site was just gravel and weeds. Side-by-side hooks put only about 3' between my unit and the next. I noted that they attempted to put 2 other travelers in the next site, but they objected to the close proximity before the 3rd took it. I was told that wifi was only available in the office building for overnight guests. I don't think I would stay here again.
