I have stayed here many times and have enjoyed it each and every time. I have even stayed in their cabins. My kids love the playground and the bounce pad and being able to run around the park. There are trails there to hike on the campground and it is close to longer trails outside the campground. It is a local favorite of ours. There is also lots of things to do outside the campground.
We really enjoyed our four night stay at Misty Mountain Camping Resort! The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we were checking in, I was given a choice to change camping spots. The lady told me that she had a spot that was much easier to get into, without my husband having to back down a road. We enjoyed our spot, even though it was a little unlevel. We enjoyed having a glass of wine around a fire a couple of nights. The leaves were just beautiful. Loved the drive up to the Shenandoah... Read More

Office staff very personable. Lots of fun things to do there year round. I hiked around with my dogs. We stayed in the upper campground in a back in site. Had an escort up the hill to show us where our site was. Beautiful place in the fall. All the trees were in full color! Made our walks really great! We need to be in Charlottesville several times a year and always dreaded staying at the "K" campground closer to Charlottesville. Misty Mountain Campground we will be back!
It is an amazing campgound and family friendly. It is free if someone wants to visit. They have tons of stuff for kids. Also they have amazing staff. Even if it is hot it is fun!! They have a jumppad, Cornhole, horse shoe and many more. If I were you I would stay.
We really enjoyed this park. Close to several great wineries, skyline drive, and quant little Waynesboro. Go have breakfast at Farmhouse on Main. The road noise is audible if you are close to the road, but easy access to the store (which sells wine) and children's activities. The front spaces are great for satellite reception. The sites farthest away from the road will make getting satellite reception a challenge (but you will be knee deep in Mother Nature so who needs TV).
We arrived for Easter camping on Friday March 30th 2018. First impression was nice. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, park and creek were clean. Great curb appeal. We were shown our site and proceeded to it. This place is extremely tight!!! Before we could turn into our road and site (#3) we had to move a golf cart that was parked near the road. Pulling into our site it was apparent that these were really not big rig friendly. Units are so close, we could not safely have a fire in the ring.... Read More

Pulling into our site it was apparent that these were really not big rig friendly. Units are so close, we could not safely have a fire in the ring. When the neighbor to our left extended his awning it was 11 inches from my kitchen slide. Sewer dumps are right next to the picnic tables and patio's for them. This was on the lower part of the campground. If you are booked on the upper campground with a big camper, 5th wheel, or Class A,B,C, try to stay down. Although it is paved up to the top, it is steep, tight, and curvy, to get up there. The park map does not show this. There was a bonfire both nights which was nice, an Easter egg hunt and crafts on Saturday, and other events. There are nice breweries, distilleries, and eateries nearby and the mountains are beautiful. We did not use the showers or bath's as we used our camper. The store was fully stocked and nice. My personal opinion is that they could take away a few sites in the lower area on the left to make them user friendly and comfortable. When you are close enough that you can hear your neighbors conversation while you are both in your campers, you are to close. There is a big field behind the store with sites and those also were placed tightly together. If you are o.k. with things kind of close or are transient (over nighting) this is your place. I drove tractor-trailers over the road for years and found it uncomfortable and tight to get in, stay, and get out. This campground would be (in my opinion) much better with larger sites allowing more room.

This is a beautiful campground. There are four different sections ranging from full hook-up to primitive tent camping as well as cabins. The roads in the park are easy to navigate. Sites are gravel and level, average size grass area. We were in #23 - a back in with a large grass area behind us. Our site was right on the road and it was noisy, farther into the park would not be. Each site has a picnic table on a cement patio and a fire pit. The best site in the park is #4. The park is very well maintained.... Read More

We needed to use our long sewer hose due to the placement of the connect. WiFi was good when the park was pretty empty but on the busy weekend we couldn't get on it. Verizon signal was strong. The laundry and bathrooms were very clean. There is plenty to do, two playgrounds, corn hole, big field, air pillow trampoline, a nice size dog park and a pond and the creek runs through the park. They also offer shuttles to local wineries and breweries. We stayed May 29 - June 5, 2017. We paid $52.47 a night with our Good Sam discount. Close to Monticello and other historical sites.

The Good Sam's rating is incorrect and much too high. We stayed the days immediately following Memorial Day and during the week the bathrooms near our site were NEVER cleaned. In addition, the sites are not level and no work was done on them as people left and before others came in. The location is very convenient and the camp store is well stocked.
Cute place with a little store; game room and community area; nice hiking trails and a little stream; country store down the road. the campsites are pretty close but for the price it was a good value. Had some trouble with the front desk receptionist although polite had difficulty answering my questions or understanding what I was trying ask; would try someplace else next time but if nothing else available it would be ok
This campground is way over rated. When we asked for a ssite where our satelight would work, we were put out in a field. I had also mentioned on check in that I wanted to do laundry. I had to hike up a hill, only to find the air conditioning was not working. Daytime temperature was probably in the 90"s. A couple of employees who were there, told me the air had been broken since March. We will not stop there again.
Great place in the heart of VA's wine and beer country. Lots of shade, very quiet, lots of family activities. In a single weekend we were there, they had 2 nights of music, bonfire, and one night of hayride. Free coffee and doughnuts every Sunday AM. VERY clean restrooms and showers. The staff is amazing. Extremely friendly and helpful. They will set up kayaking trips, or brewery and/or winery tours for you. Just outside of Charlottesville, and right up the road from Wintergreen.
Very clean friendly facility. Only drawback for us was the long walk, steep climb from the area of activities. Nothing to be done about that but to drive back and forth.... or have much younger legs !
I stayed here for the week of the snow storm and the staff was excellent in trying to keep the grounds clear during and after the storm. Didn't matter that I needed propane in the middle of the storm, they were there to get it filled no problem. The camp store stays well stocked and even though I was hoping not to need a snow shovel they were happy to let me borrow one to dig a Path to my truck. Didn't need the laundry or restroom facilities, so I cant speak about them, but the grounds are very well taken care of and know they are very pet friendly here, wish I could have brought my dog. I really appreciate all the help and I very much enjoyed my stay here, defiantly recommended.

We spent 2 nights at Misty Mountain and found a very nice campground. The park was clean, the staff were friendly and the location was excellent. We had an upper campsite which was a little hard to get into but was lovely and private. It was close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, caverns and also Charlottesville. I would stay there again.
We stayed here 5 days hoping to explore Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Dr. It location was great. Easy to get to and close to both. We travel with 2 dogs and the dog park was great. The people were very nice and the campstore was adequate. The WiFi was better than most. The cable TV does not have many channels, maybe 12. Our only negative comments are our site was tight to the next one. Our picnic table was next to their sewer pipe! Our site was close to a fairly busy road. The laundry had 4 washers... Read More

We had a nice level, pull thru site, peace & quiet, a short walk to a well-stocked camp store. Very pet friendly and every camper was friendly. No night noise. Staff was excellent. Not a piece of litter in sight, and everything was well maintained. Our site in the lower level area was great and there was no road noise from Rt 250. We are going back next month!
