We have a 36 ft motorized RV towing a 20-ft car hauler with our Pacifica minivan on it. We asked for a pull-through that would accommodate that with space to park the car. Well...after lots of problems getting the proper lot (won’t go into it all, it would take too long, but it was the “resort” management’s fault), we finally got hooked up, took the car off the hauler, and then we were barely able to angle it in to park at the front. The site was not big enough, nor nice enough to have our patio... Read More

The site was not big enough, nor nice enough to have our patio set up (camp chairs, awning), especially since there had been a lot of rain, and there wasn’t good drainage at the sites. There were huge puddles and muddy patches everywhere, the picnic table was half submerged. The beaches were closed because they didn’t have any lifeguards, boat rentals and such had closed due to covid and never reopened, but that was not stated on their website. After all the issues getting hooked up, that evening was not relaxing for us. Then the next day, we had planned to have family come down from Chicago to spend the day with us, taking advantage of the resort activities, having a cookout, etc. After seeing the campground that there really was no room to have people over, we contacted our family and they said just to come on into Chicago and spend the day with them. It worked out to be a very nice time with them there, but it was not what we planned. This campground has a long way to go to be even comfortable, let alone call itself a resort. It’s very near I-90, the side we were on you could see the traffic going by, and hear it all night long. While it didn’t really bother me, it might bother others, so this is just a heads-up. Next time we head up to Chicago with our RV, we will NOT be staying at this “resort.”

Dirty and rundown though friendly people. Mostly extended stay campers

This place leans toward permanent sites. In fact I didn't see any other campers just passing through. Our site didn't have any shade. The gravel drives needed better maintenance as there were large mud puddles everywhere. We also couldn't sit outside due to the heavy sewer smell. Another section of the campground had a major road right beside it which made it very noisy. Train tracks lined another side.

From experience, when my kids were small, it was always a nice, clean expectation to visit a Yogi Bear park. It seems that was when this campground was cleaned last! Didn't read the reviews first! And should have... We asked for full hookups and have water and electric and the sewer cap is sealed shut. There is no Wifi/TV, although the write-up in Good Sam says 2 per site. There are train tracks 3 trailers away and it's quite loud with very long trains going by often! It is $49 nightly and the... Read More

You have to be extremely desperate to stay here. 932 site mostly long term renters. IMMEDIATELY next to I-94 with a noise level that was deafening. Railroad on other side to add to noise. Available site are mixed in with full time renters. Some site maintained very well, other in very sad shape. I can not imagine looking forward to a weekend "getaway" at the lake. On top of noise and condition they charge up to $56.00 / night. Sorry, but we do things twice, first time and last time.

I don't know how this site obtained a decent review. After 48 days of travel we were looking forward to a peaceful camping experience. We reserved two nights here due to the Yogi Bear name and the good sam ratings. This was a mistake. And we could not get a refund. Negative issues: about 900 sites but 800+ were owned. Most sites were in horrible state of repair. 50% were full time homes. Not a campground. Train tracks were in constant use and about 50' from campsites. Roads were mud with deep potholes.... And difficult to travel. This is not a safe area. Very dated with no visible updates. Power was out most of the day. Were were there on a weekend and most of the owners were there. Very crowded. Restrooms were dated and not maintained. Laundry was not used. Crowded with smokers. Not clean. Positive findings. None
