We stayed at Shady Lane RV Camp from 12/24/23 - 1/4/24 when our truck pulling our travel trailer broke down in Barstow on our way to Joshua Tree. We called the park and Don, the manager, had a spot for our 20 foot trailer. Don assisted us with having our rig towed and had a spot for us to stay for the entire time we waited for our truck. Our site was site 3 that was a pull through with both 30 and 50 amp, water, and sewer. The park had showers, bathrooms and laundry facilities. All of the facilities... Read More

All of the facilities were cleaned daily and we utilized all of them during our stay. We felt welcomed and safe the entire time we were there. Don and his family have owned and managed the RV park for over 40 years and truly care about the travelers who stay with them. Since being home, we have planned another trip and will be passing through Barstow. We plan on staying again on our way through.

We were lucky to find this campsite in Barstow,CA. It is easy to find close to the highway but far enough so you don’t hear the traffic. As an older campsite we weren’t sure what to expect but we’re pleased to have been met by some very friendly owners. Being in the desert they directed us to a lovely shaded spot with a concrete sitting area with full hookup. They have bathrooms, showers and laundry. We found them to be very clean, roomy and comfortable. Was very quiet and relaxing, just... Read More

Good hookups, wifi and service. Close to Barstow but well-off freeway and very quiet. Good overnight camping location. Dirt access, large sites

The 2nd time we have made this our over night stop in Barstow while heading home to Prescott AZ. We've been on the road for 6 weeks and had a very nice quiet night sleep at Shady Lane. It is not the usual Motorhome park with no frills. A great place for an overnight stay. Daniel the manager is so helpful and led us to our site in his golf cart with just one try getting us set up with our 41 ft RV and a Tow Car. Super-friendly, welcoming and laid-back host. Off the beaten path, just like we prefer. Site was level & clean and easy access to power, water & sewer. Restrooms were a little dated but clean. Quiet! Heard no traffic or highway noise while sleeping, but the A/C was on. If you stay in summer, you'll want your A/C on too, because it gets hot here-- 103° the day we arrived. I heard one train in the distance when I got up in the early morning but not near enough to be a nuisance. I will stay again if... Read More

We only stayed the one night in a pull through. The very friendly and kind manager guided us to our site and made sure we had everything we required and told us to come back to the office and pay once we were settled. When do we hear that these days ? Although we have rated this little " back in time" gem 5 stars , one must take into consideration that we are rating on service and cleanliness. It is an older campground so if you are looking for new or a resort this would not be for you. We loved... Read More

On our 7,600 mile journey we greatly enjoyed our stay and the staff were extremely helpful. The historic trees are beautiful and well cared for. Easy access to Barstow. A most memorable stay. Thank you staff and owner.

Stayed one night on our way to Yosemite and again on our way back. The park is older and it's age shows but everything is clean and owners are quite friendly and help you get settled before paying. Roads/parking slips are dirt and gravel and most sites have patios. Park utilities worked well including wifi and cable tv. Off the highway enough to be quiet but easy to access. I had no problems parking my 25' trailer but I can see how big rigs might have some difficulty though there were a couple class A rigs there. Showers could use a couple hooks to hang clothes or towels. It's not fancy but I have no problem recommending this park to others. Park is quite full with long term or permanent guests and was full both nights we were there so reservations are highly recommended. They do take credit cards now.

All of my interactions with the office folks were positive. We were guided to our slot and parked in a good position. This is a small park with only a few slots open to transient/daily parking. We were here for two nights and the park was full each night. I did make reservations a few weeks in advance. There is no grass to speak of, and the trees have been trimmed severely to accommodate larger rigs with slide-outs. There is an extra charge for 50amp, which we needed because of temps in the... There is no grass to speak of, and the trees have been trimmed severely to accommodate larger rigs with slide-outs. There is an extra charge for 50amp, which we needed because of temps in the 90s. The park is quiet, I didn't hear trains, planes or automobiles. The facilities are in keeping with the age of the park, which opened in 1977. The bathrooms were clean and smelled fresh. Laundry facilities were available, but I didn't check on prices. WiFi was decent, but I didn't try streaming. There is a good layer of gravel in the general driving lanes. It was dry during our visit so I can't speak to the possible muddy issues during rainy season.

If you don't need any amenities or frills, this is the place! Blazing fast Fibre Optic internet. 100 megabit down and 100 megabit up with a 15 second ping. A handful of fuzzy cable channels. Easy hook ups, wide gravel sites. Management is very involved and seem truly interested in making your stay comfortable. Good value at $40 taxes in (with Good Sam). Only downside is that it's dusty, but what can you expect from a desert campground?

I ended up here for two weeks due to repairs I needed on my travel trailer. The park is very quiet, the owners/managers are nice & are enjoyable characters. I was only 2 miles outside of Barstow and had no problems getting repair people to come out to me. I didn't use the restroom/showers, but did use the laundry twice. It is very clean, the machines in good order. I would definitely stay here again.

We checked in Shady Lane yesterday after making a reservation by phone the day before. Ron greeted us and led us to our pull through site. This park is small, with gravel roads and dirt sites. Each space has a picnic table and trash can as well as the usual hook ups. We are very pleased with this clean, nicely landscaped (for the desert) RV campground. It is quiet and easy to get to off of I-15. We made a Walmart run today and it was only about 10 minutes away. Internet was fine. My husband used... Read More

I HIGHLY recommend Shady Lane (established 1977) for a quick stay. There are a few permanent looking rigs, but most of the other spaces (mostly pull thru) fill up at night. This month they began taking credit cards....I had no problem using mine.

the site manager was great! He was very accommodating and helpful as was his father who helped us into our space. Very clean and quiet. Didn't use the restrooms so can't comment on those. Not a whole lot of amenities but just a clean, friendly quiet and convenient park for which we paid $35 a night as Good Sam members. Will stay there again next time we are passing through! We stayed in a 35 foot class A motorhome with 50 amp service.

I agree with the other comments, This park is nothing to write home about, but it's quite, it's roomy (RV wise), the restrooms are clean. There's a comment about a grumpy mgr and I can see where that's coming from, but if you use a little diplomacy he turns out to be a wonderful helpful person. I don't know if I was asked or I volunteered that I was heading east on I-40 and the other gentleman at the office offered a homemade map which saved me about 10 miles getting back to I-40, plus a look at... It was so nice to be greeted as we pulled in with a smile! Didn't even have to get out of the coach. A nice friendly gentleman, who turns out to be one of the owners, led us to our site and told us to get settled, have lunch and then come by the office to register and pay. We have a 40' coach and had no issues getting to our site with our tow car still connected. I would definitely stay here again.
