Really shocked this is a Good Sams campground. Arrived this week, Aug 10th spot we thought had sewer for our 45 ft coach, but only electric. Ok fine we will make due and dump later. Okay, tried wifi, nope, cable, no (even though website says they have) okay, so we will just read our books, relax and sight see. About an hour goes by and our air condition stops. Go to look at the 50 amp we paid for and it is dropping voltage on even small loads. Barely enough to keep our fully stocked frig running.... Read More

Called office and a guy shows up and says he knows nothing about electric but we should remove our surge protector. We say, well that’s the only thing that kept us from blowing everything and ruining our electronics. We ask him to tell the manager and please tell us what can be done. No response, so we Go into office next morning to ask if something could be done. Mind you, we have been full time for 4 yrs. gone to 26 states and countless campgrounds. The lady says to my husband,, after simply asking if if there was anything to be done, which she replied, if you don’t like my campground, you can take your home on wheels and leave. NEVER been treated like this EVER!!!! We had nowhere else to go as all camps are booked solid and our next stop had no early open sites. We spent 3 days with no air con conditioning. Had to run generator to cook. So disappointed. 1st time let down by Good Sams. But we survived.

If you are a tent camper, Newberry Campground, Newberry MI. may be for you. However, if you have any investment at all tied up in your RV, "Stay Away From NEWBERRY CAMPGROUND". The POWER is all screwed up. Even if your RV is equipped with the latest and greatest surge protection, and digital display of amp reading on each phase, without the proper power coming from the pedestal at each leg, none of it will help you run your appliances safely. (AND THE OWNER OF THE PLACE COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR RIG.) For more of my story, read on. I reserved three nights with 50 amp service. My neighbor to the South pulled in about the same time as I did and had trouble with his 30 amp service. He asked me if I was having trouble. (Red Flag!!) I got my meter out and check my service. Sure enough, I had 113 volts on one leg and 123 volts on the other. I then went over and checked his 30 amp service, (And several other empty sites). I was getting readings of (And his coach confirmed the same) 111 volts on L-1 and 114 v on L-2. The other three 30 amp sites were the same. After a trip to the office the owner of the camp ground drove out in his cart and was extremely arrogant right off the bat. He repeatedly tried to get us to by-pass any surge protection unit we had on our coach and was telling us that if we did, the problem would go away. After dropping the "F" bomb (and few other expletives), then calling us a lier, he was (in so many words) telling us we didn't know what we were talking about. Now mind you, it just so happened (Which I found out after the fact) that both my neighbor and myself, have electrical background with over 65 yrs combined experience in the commercial HVAC trade. I could not make him (The camp ground owner) understand that the A/C units in our RV's were tripping off for a reason and the protection units we have on the coach were there to protect our appliances from this very problem. He became rude and down right belligerent telling us he has had this problem 100's of times and if you just by-pass the surge protector, all would be fine. I showed him the new 50 amp male plug I recently installed on my power cord and told him the old one had melted as a result of the last place I stayed at with bad power. His answer,,, (Are you ready for this?) He said, "Well we sell those plugs up at the office." I have no words for this man, (the owner of the camp ground), he never would give me his name. Even if I go back to "tent camping", I will never come back to this camp ground if for no other reason than the arrogant attitude of the owner. He did offer me a refund and had I been able to find another camp site for the weekend, I would have left right then. Try finding another 50 amp weekend camp site near by at 6:30 pm on a Friday night. Believe me I looked. Stay Away, You have been warned!

The attendant was very hospitable however, the actual facilities were not worth the full price we paid. Would never recommend or use this facility again. The one port-a-potty was disgustingly full The trash dumpster was overflowing with trash all around it The actual camp site was rutted and extremely uneven

This former KOA park is seriously lacking. Rude management, dirty, no enforcement of their own rules, find elsewhere.

Will be coming here again and again. Owners were very nice. Place is kept clean and well maintained. We would have stayed longer if they had availability! Thanks for the great camping experience!
