Appeal Rating Was met by a very rude woman at the front desk. I tried asking questions about different spaces and was told that "you get what I say you get". You don't have a choice of spots. We ended up next to the office in a spot that had a bunch of junk next to it. I felt we were parked in a junk yard. The spot was so small that we couldn't even open our awning or we would have hit the camper next to us. When we walked out the door of our camper, we had to avoid stepping on the next space sewer connection. I would not recommend this RV park to anyone. Based on other reviews of bathrooms and cleanliness, I didn't even bother to look at those. This park is convenient to the Town of Medora, but that's the best I can offer. One Star is too many.

Appeal Rating Stay away from this campground. The campground needs a lot of maintenance. Camp spaces are very tight and to top it off the staff is extremely rude. Arrogant workers will escort you to your space. The man was constantly chirping as you back into your camping spot and if he doesn't agree with your actions the hothead blows a gasket. If you challenge him, he threatens to kick you out of the park. This RV campground is an embarrassment to the beautiful town of Medora.

Appeal Rating Pros: Location. Just outside the entrance to Teddy Roosevelt National Park, 1 mile from Medora Music Festival and walking distance to town. One of two FHU RV parks in area. Not all sites are P/W/S so be sure to specify. Weirdly placed dump station on way out of park frequently had long line.
Cons: Place is a dump. Grumpy office staff seemed to be holding back snide jokes until you're out of earshot. Dirt roads are tight with low overhanging branches. Sites are dirt/crab grass and full of litter (cigarette butts, bottle caps, chicken bones.yuck) Stayed 4 nights and never once saw any site maintenance or clean-up. Staff-mandatory assistance to back-in to sites made comments that showed contempt for campers abilities. Sites were very narrow and rigs were packed like sardines. When crowded, and its always crowded, people park extra vehicles in roadway, making navigation difficult, especially with the tight turns and overhanging tree branches. Neighbors slide less than foot away. Short sites force you to either park sideways in front of rig or wedge in next to camper door and adjoining rig. Absolutely nothing appealing about this place. Stay away if you can.
Provision on the way as there are no groceries within 30 miles. Yes, you must go to the Cowboy Steak Fondue.think meats on sticks on steroids. Medora Musical is a very entertaining revue..nice to see how patriotic and proud the American Heartland is. Teddy Roosevelt National Park is a great day trip.lots of wildlife, herd of Bison, wild horses, elk, antelope, prairie dogs.

Appeal Rating Great location, fine value, good facilities. Stayed 2 nights and really don't know why the negatives from some of last year's reviewers, Yes, the office and some picnic tables are showing signs of age, and yes, some of the sites are pretty close together -- but you are a stone's throw from the charming little town of Medora and the entrance to a truly wonderful national park, so those are the trade-offs. And the sites are level, there are cottonwood trees all around, and you can see some hills of the Badlands from your site. Restrooms/showers are good, and staff is helpful (the handyman lent me a ladder so I could check on a roof issue on my vehicle). Rates are very affordable -- and don't forget your Good Sam card when you check in for your discount.
Also, when you go to TRNP, don't miss walking the Wind Canyon Trail!

Appeal Rating Mens restroom was dirty, fly ridden and missing one toilet which left only one to use. Urinal was by the sinks, no privacy.
Trees had dead and falling limbs in the breeze. Trees were not trimmed and scraped sides and slide outs.
The plus is, its within walking distance to town.

Like many of the other reviews, we stayed here because of close proximity to the national park. The campground was half full, but we were put into a mud hole site. It hadn't rained that much, but I guess the red clay doesn't drain well. The wifi was good, but sites were small, don't plan on sitting outside. We didn't use the restrooms. I don't think it would do any good to complain because there is a sign clearly stating they don't want to hear it. Unfortunately, there is nothing in the area due to the short season. Not sure this park is worth the poor amenities in the area. Loving Glacier and Yellowstone with much nicer RV parks! Skip this stop unless you want to sit in your coach and stream wifi......

Had to give 1 star as the rating does not have a negative. We made the mistake of not checking camper reviews before staying. The bathrooms still have not been cleaned from the previous season. Disgusting! The sites were overgrown with weeds, picnic tables broken and/or unpainted. The whole campground is outdated and neglected. May not be able to handle a big rig if they are fully booked. On the bright side, the staff seems to be friendlier than other reviewers reported. Will not stay there again.

Appeal Rating Others have commented on staff being unfriendly. I experienced this when we made the "mistake" of staging our rig along the curb to check with office for directions. I was met by a very sour woman who's demeanor dripped impatience, her only greeting was we'd not followed directions and were blocking traffic. We remedied this immediately. I understand how frustrating it must be to have the public miss important information, but the correction can be handed out with better diplomacy.

Appeal Rating The check-in went smoothly and the staff seemed friendly. We were assigned a spot in front of their office. This is when the fun began. They actually use a PA system to communicate to their staff and it was very loud and blaring. It was used until at least 8:30 at night. Probably not a problem for those further away, but very unsettling if you were right next to it. We realized that this was an older facility, but the restroom rating was a 9 so we booked anyway. Big mistake, these were the worst restroom/shower facilities were have ever seen while RVing. There were spider webs everywhere with all types of bugs in them, there was heavy mildew on the shower curtains, and they were just overall unkempt. As someone else mentioned they could not believe that Good Sam had rated them so highly. We are really reconsidering our membership to Good Sam after this experience. Other great Good Sam RV Parks should be insulted that their restrooms are rated at or below this facility. There are really not many other options in this area, but we will never stay here again. However, the town of Medora is a gem and should be visited if you have a chance.

Appeal Rating The Good Sam bathroom rating is completely wrong. The bathrooms and showers are absolutely below standards and the worst we have our seen on our extended multi-month trip. The laundry machines are of high quality but the room is not clean. The entire office/laundry/bathroom complex is completely out of date. The GS rating must have been done years ago. However, this is the only commercial campground in Medora so they do not invest in keeping it up to date. Note that there is no grocery store and only one gas station in Medora so plan accordingly.

We booked the morning of our trip and they had openings. We pulled in at 9:00 p.m. and they were still open. They take you to your camp spot and park you which was AWESOME as it was dark and the sights are tight. They were all very friendly and we will be staying there on our next trip to Medora. Thanks for a great stay.

We were very disappointed with this RV park. The spaces are very small and unappealing. The staff was not at all friendly. It took almost 1/2 hour to post this review because of the poor internet connection. Luckily we only reserved 2 nights. Definitely not up to the normal standards that we expect from Good Sam parks.

Appeal Rating Stayed here 3 nights. We will stay here again if we every get back to this area. The staff was very friendly when we checked in. The manager's sister lives near our home town in Louisiana. We visited for several minutes until next campers arrived. We generally do not use the facilities at any RV Park since we are self contained. But as another reviewer wrote, the park is like an old worn chair that you hate to give up. It is comfortable. Sure, it could use some updates, but it is adequate.

This was the 2nd time that we stayed here. The campground is located in a beautiful setting that is walking distance to the fabulous town of Medora, home of the Medora musical, It is a short drive to Roosevelt National Park. We love the town of Medora. The hosts at this campground have always gone above and beyond in being helpful, caring and friendly. When we were there in June of 2015, my 86 year old father fell and broke his hip. If this had to happen, we couldn't have been in a better place. They got us the help we needed promptly and accommodated our needed extended stay. While we were at the hospital several miles away, they reached our dog from I side of our trailer, who got himself tngled up. When we got back to the campground they were taking care of himike he was their own. I would recommend this campground. The location is beautiful and the people are some of the nicest you will ever meet. I will never forget what they did for us and I hope to go back again sometime.

There are very few RV parks in the area so you almost have to stay here. The park is adequate but looks neglected and in need of help. The park appears to be full almost all the time but more a function of no other place to go. It is convenient to TRNP, had great cable (paid extra), good wifi. No pet run. Needs a face lift.

Appeal Rating this is a family run park, really very nice people. The wife does the office and store, husband takes care of the facilities and gets everyone into their spot. The kids are seen doing some chores, but mostly playing in their huge front yard called an RV Park. We have stayed a week and have enjoyed getting to know the entire family. They work very hard for you, and take pride in this old but very comfortable park.
This is a very large park with even overflow property adjacent to the park. The sites run from FHU pull-throughs to electric only tent sites. There are many combinations of sewer, water, power but every site has cable, and good cable at that, over 60 channels plus music.
Most sites are back-in, some butt-to-butt, some staggered. There are lots of mature shade trees. The sites are big enough for awnings and/or slide-outs, and come with a picnic table and a grill. The sites are not spacious, but adequate. The grass in the park struggles. Not only is it hot and dry, but this is the No. Dakota badlands and "soil" tends to be gravel, clay, and rocks. The RV sites are gravel, the tent sites are grassier.
The park is neat and clean and well maintained. The kids' playground has a multi-level tree house type play gym, very expansive. There is no grocery store in Medora. The camp store has a lot of current groceries and RV supplies. Kind of surprising.
The bathrooms are adequately clean and useable. They probably could use a "deep" cleaning by a commercial company, and some updating, but were certainly serviceable. There is a big laundry.
This park, and its people, is like an old, but comfortable chair: kind of worn and threadbare, but very comfy and a good fit for visiting Medora.
