Staff is very helpful and friendly. Park is old, but well maintained. Situated right next to the Medora Foundation facility so you can take a walk around it. It is a few miles from the show, but the campground across the street from the show has no WIFI or Cable.

We stayed here a week and was pleasantly surprised, We saw 3 deer just behind our RV 2 or 3 different days during our stay. This park is walking distance to Medora. This is an older park but the spaces are plenty big, they advertise cable TV but when we arrived they told us there was no TV. Our spot was a back in and the camp staff assisted and we backed right in. The laundry only had 3 washers and 4 dryers and when we did laundry we had an issue with one of the washers. The Camp staff had to assist, the issue could not be fixed so they paid for a different washer, this took us longer but what more could we ask. A couple days it rained a lot, camp staff came out a couple times with a small pump and drained the large puddle by our truck. This park was extremely quiet during our stay and that is the way we like it. We did not use the bathroom facilities and therefore did not place a rating. We would recommend this place to friends and stay here again.

Was met by a very rude woman at the front desk. I tried asking questions about different spaces and was told that "you get what I say you get". You don't have a choice of spots. We ended up next to the office in a spot that had a bunch of junk next to it. I felt we were parked in a junk yard. The spot was so small that we couldn't even open our awning or we would have hit the camper next to us. When we walked out the door of our camper, we had to avoid stepping on the next space sewer connection.... Read More

Based on other reviews of bathrooms and cleanliness, I didn't even bother to look at those. This park is convenient to the Town of Medora, but that's the best I can offer. One Star is too many.

Very Nice people to deal with they even stay with you till you are in your sight we had one small issue but talking with the staff they worked it out with us they were very accommodating they have a awesome camp store with all kinds of any thing you might need they even carry Schwan's Ice Cream along with all of your essential that you might have forgotten and prices were good They are also with in walking distance to down town Medora would defiantly stay here again

Stay away from this campground. The campground needs a lot of maintenance. Camp spaces are very tight and to top it off the staff is extremely rude. Arrogant workers will escort you to your space. The man was constantly chirping as you back into your camping spot and if he doesn't agree with your actions the hothead blows a gasket. If you challenge him, he threatens to kick you out of the park. This RV campground is an embarrassment to the beautiful town of Medora.

Easy access to park and pads. Good hookups and decent shade trees for about half the pads. Wifi was excellent if not the best we had recently experienced. TV cable was $2 a night extra if interested. No campfires by city code which was good for those of us with breathing issues. Biggest disappointment was restroom and showers with only one building for the entire park which we felt was inadequate and required one to plan for the best time to find a vacancy. Pros: Location. Just outside the entrance to Teddy Roosevelt National Park, 1 mile from Medora Music Festival and walking distance to town. One of two FHU RV parks in area. Grumpy office staff seemed to be holding back snide jokes until you're out of earshot. Dirt roads are tight with low overhanging branches. Sites are dirt/crab grass and full of litter (cigarette butts, bottle caps, chicken bones.yuck) Stayed 4 nights and never once saw any site maintenance or clean-up. Staff-mandatory assistance to back-in to sites made comments that showed contempt for campers abilities. Sites were very narrow and rigs were packed like sardines. When crowded, and its always crowded, people park extra vehicles in roadway, making navigation difficult, especially with the tight turns and overhanging tree branches. Neighbors slide less than foot away. Short sites force you to either park sideways in front of rig or wedge in next to camper door and adjoining rig. Absolutely nothing appealing about this place. Stay away if you can. Provision on the way as there are no groceries within 30 miles. Yes, you must go to the Cowboy Steak Fondue.think meats on sticks on steroids. Medora Musical is a very entertaining revue..nice to see how patriotic and proud the American Heartland is. Teddy Roosevelt National Park is a great day trip.lots of wildlife, herd of Bison, wild horses, elk, antelope, prairie dogs.

Great location, fine value, good facilities. Stayed 2 nights and really don't know why the negatives from some of last year's reviewers, Yes, the office and some picnic tables are showing signs of age, and yes, some of the sites are pretty close together -- but you are a stone's throw from the charming little town of Medora and the entrance to a truly wonderful national park, so those are the trade-offs. Mens restroom was dirty, fly ridden and missing one toilet which left only one to use. Urinal was by the sinks, no privacy. Trees had dead and falling limbs in the breeze. Trees were not trimmed and scraped sides and slide outs. The plus is, its within walking distance to town.

Like many of the other reviews, we stayed here because of close proximity to the national park. The campground was half full, but we were put into a mud hole site. It hadn't rained that much, but I guess the red clay doesn't drain well. The wifi was good, but sites were small, don't plan on sitting outside. We didn't use the restrooms. There is trash at the campsites that has been there a long time. The bathrooms are horrible. The shower curtains haven't been changed in ages and the floor drain had an accumulation of dirt and hair that had been there awhile. They had removed a toilet in the men's bathroom and hadn't covered the hole. It was completely open. The help needed clean clothing. Lax in attention and maintenance.

This park is nothing to get too excited about, but it is VERY close to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, if that's your destination. The park doesn't have a lot of eye appeal, but did provide full utilities at a reasonable price. All spaces are back-in and the owner provided assistance (which we really didn't need, but it was a nice touch). What you can't see in the aerial picture is the construction project going on next door. We visited in early June 2018 and they were building modular apartments... Read More

Others have commented on staff being unfriendly. I experienced this when we made the "mistake" of staging our rig along the curb to check with office for directions. I was met by a very sour woman who's demeanor dripped impatience, her only greeting was we'd not followed directions and were blocking traffic. We remedied this immediately. I understand how frustrating it must be to have the public miss important information, but the correction can be handed out with better diplomacy.

Without this assistance, the wait would surely have been over an hour and tempers would have flared. I had requested a pull-through site as, staying for only the one night, I did not want to un-hook my trailer. I had barely a foot to spare lengthwise between myself and the next camper, and the spaces were crammed so tightly next to each other that there was absolutely no privacy. The entire campground had a sewer smell wafting through it. It is an older facility and the campsites are just crammed in one beside the other. Bathrooms had overflowing trash and drains full of hair in the showers. There are one or two other campgrounds in the area that I am aware of, I believe they are state campgrounds. I only drove by the one that is actually inside the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, but would definitely recommend checking those out before reserving a spot a Red Trail.

Negatives: wifi went in and out constantly so very unreliable. $11 extra charge for 50 amp pull through site. Laundry is a large room with no windows or ventilation with 4 large capacity washers and dryers. But the room needs a good deep cleaning. Based on other reviews I checked the shower/bath and decided not to use either. Again, they need a good deep cleaning. Shower stall floor was filthy. Picnic tables could all use a coat of paint. I observed the male manager watch a 5th wheel pull up and scrape the entire roof of his unit. The manager's comment to himself "that's why the sign says no RV's". Granted, the camper should have observed the signage but taking out the dead branches and the branches hanging over the road on both sides would be an easy fix. All the sites are very close and some are in odd places...I would not want my front door to open to the dump station or dumpsters. One is behind the laundry room with another site perpendicular to it. A couple are next to houses. Since we have seen everything in Medora we won't need to come back here.

I would have washed out of the bathroom sink before I would have used their showers. I only am aware because I had to use the bathroom while using the laundry. The bathroom had a terrible odor, no not poop. Our sight was located next to a private home. There was always a sewage odor at our campsite. There was also a terrible odor that permeated the cg most of the time. Located very near a train track, but no train whistles. There were a lot of sites that were to small for the size RV. The sites were really close together. You had to pay extra for "cable" TV. No trees whatsoever in our area. Positives: We had a pull through site with full hookup. TV "cable" worked most of time. Access in & out was good. Within walking distance of Medora. Entrance to Teddy Roosevelt NP was very close. Medora Musical was really good. The other Historical sites around town were nice.

There were spider webs everywhere with all types of bugs in them, there was heavy mildew on the shower curtains, and they were just overall unkempt. As someone else mentioned they could not believe that Good Sam had rated them so highly. We are really reconsidering our membership to Good Sam after this experience. Other great Good Sam RV Parks should be insulted that their restrooms are rated at or below this facility. There are really not many other options in this area, but we will never stay here again. However, the town of Medora is a gem and should be visited if you have a chance.

The kids are seen doing some chores, but mostly playing in their huge front yard called an RV Park. We have stayed a week and have enjoyed getting to know the entire family. They work very hard for you, and take pride in this old but very comfortable park. This is a very large park with even overflow property adjacent to the park. The sites run from FHU pull-throughs to electric only tent sites. There are many combinations of sewer, water, power but every site has cable, and good cable at that, over 60 channels plus music. Most sites are back-in, some butt-to-butt, some staggered. There are lots of mature shade trees. The sites are big enough for awnings and/or slide-outs, and come with a picnic table and a grill. The sites are not spacious, but adequate. The grass in the park struggles. Not only is it hot and dry, but this is the No. Dakota badlands and "soil" tends to be gravel, clay, and rocks. The RV sites are gravel, the tent sites are grassier. The park is neat and clean and well maintained. The kids' playground has a multi-level tree house type play gym, very expansive. There is no grocery store in Medora. The camp store has a lot of current groceries and RV supplies. Kind of surprising. The bathrooms are adequately clean and useable. They probably could use a "deep" cleaning by a commercial company, and some updating, but were certainly serviceable. There is a big laundry. This park, and its people, is like an old, but comfortable chair: kind of worn and threadbare, but very comfy and a good fit for visiting Medora.

No separate dog park but plenty of space to walk our dog and the park is dog friendly with poop bags everywhere.
