Had a lovely stay over the weekend. The park was very kid friendly as well as pet friendly. The pool was large and the grounds were well kept.

Lake Conroe is a Thousand Trails park that clearly defines Family vacation. The park has been undergoing a transformation into a destination vacation place. They have upgraded many of their restrooms, the pool area and outdoor activities...these are simply wonderful. What they have not touched seems dead in comparison. They offer indoor family night movies, breakfast on weekends, canoe rentals and a boat launch for the enticing lake, a huge basketball court area and lots of walking space. The sites are FHU and very roomy...but you are not allowed to use that room. If you are towing a trailer (like a uhaul) they do not want to allow you to have it at your site. They restrict how many non-camping vehicles can be at your site (this includes that ATV and Golf Cart you brought), what can be stowed outside your door and if you can hang your swimsuits outside, you can't have a tent at your site...they clearly have a picture image they are trying to adhere to. Which is so odd, as these sites are very big and roomy. Isn't this a campground? No, it's a wanna be resort, complete with pay as you go Tengo internet (one device at a time, and expensive if you figured the cost compared to home internet), cabin rentals and vacation cottages for sale! The camp store is pathetic, thankfully Costco and Walmart are a short and easy drive away. The family activity areas are ugly, worn, peeling and falling apart, and look like the cafeteria from a 1950s school. Another park trying to appeal to the pocketbook of families, but leasing sites to Snow Birds and not finding a way to compromise between the two.
