This is a nice park, all pull-thru open sites, clean bathhouses that are also tornado shelters, CATV, Wifi, mini golf, pool (seasonal), small playground, horseshoe pit, pond (catch and release), nice bike/walking path around lake and into town. Restaurant within walking distance, services nearby. Car wash next door made it a bit noisy in the daytime (we were near it – “A” row). We stayed there just for an overnight, but if I needed to be in the area longer I would have stayed here. Easy on and off the Interstate. $34.01 with Good Sam discount.
We stayed in this park previously and was shocked when we arrived last week how much it has deteriorated since our last visit. When I got out of my truck to start unhooking the first thing I did saw step in dog crap. After that shock and got set up, I took our dog for a walk and there were a couple of dogs running loose and dog droppings, cigarette butts, and trash all over. Our fire pit was full of garbage. One rest room building was out of order and I did not bother going into the second one. I read a previous review that you wouldn't really want to go in there. What this park needs is some TLC. With some good management this could be a very nice park again. It is very handy to I-55 and to the local attractions of Cape Girardeau. I don't usually give bad reviews but I had to in this case.
Great place to stop for an overnight. Easy in and out for Big Rigs. If we weren't driving through it would have been a good place to stay for a few nights. During summer months it looks like they have a nice pool and miniature golf course. Good place to walk your dogs. The park is right along a 5 mile long walking path. A trip to historic downtown Cape Girardeau is a must. The Mississippi River Tales Mural along the river is very interesting and well done!!
