Appeal Rating My husband and I booked our stay through Reserve America website. We reserved a paved, pull-through site for our 40 ft 5th wheel. According to staff at campground, their system has glitches with Reserve America, so our site was double booked. We were put in an unpaved, mostly dirt, back-in site that turned into a mud pit when it rained. My husband told owner about need for gravel on the site, but owner stated there was too much rain to have it placed. DO NOT take your 40 ft or longer 5th wheel or pull-behind to this park. Paved roads are one-lane with many sharp, ungraded turns and hills that resulted in damage to our unit. Cable TV lines run across sites, creating a fall hazard. At least half the campground is occupied by aging permanent camper residences. On the positive side, campground is convenient to Cherokee and Bryson City, and it was very quiet at night. Employees at park were friendly, worked very hard, and tried to be helpful. However, the campground is very old and desperately needs upgrading by owners.

The sites were very close. We had a small grassy area with picnic table, the grass was very tall. We couldn't sit at the picnic table because the grass was so tall. There was mud on the paved end along the camper. We had to put a carpet mat down to not sit or walk in mud.
We walked out of our camper to a steep hill, close to another rv. We set up our chairs where we could, and had a great view of the next camper's sewage drain and it smelled!
On the other side was a camper with a deck. They were up hill and close so they could see into our camper.
The game room was ok. The pool table top was ripped in several places. The pool looked very clean.
It had good access to a grocery store and close to Cherokee. The people that checked us in were friendly.
We will probably not stay again.

Appeal Rating I am giving a 1 star only because I can’t do zero! Not at all like advertised. Does not accommodate 30ft or larger well. Very hilly. No room to have awning out and sit under. Lots of unkept permanent spots and mobile homes. One spot actually had a 5th wheel, 2 boats, an enclosed trailer, a side by side and 2 pickup trucks. Trash everywhere. Grass not cut. I would not recommend to anyone.

Fort Wilderness campground is a bad one to stay.
As I arrived had an argument with the office on my booking. I have booked 50A site and they gave me 30A site. The owner lady was rude and finally changed it to 50A mud site. My booking confirmation said Paved and 50A site.
When I got to the new site, the water and sewage where in the left side and electricity was on the right side. My cable barley made it. The mud smelled from. They had a problem with the septic tank and they fixed it. On the 3rd. day of my stay (from 7 days booking and paid). the power went off. I ran my generator for a day and night and when I saw that the electric is not coming back I left. The electric system in this camp is old and not up to handle the load. The main breaker board just melted under the load. The wiring and the outlet are not up to code and my neighbor had only 90V in his 30A. so he also left the next day after he arrived. Many site rv's left on July 4th. as 90 degrees heat with no AC, is not what I paid for. The office refused to pay me back for the days that I left and for the day that I ran my generator with about $40.00 in fuel.
I will never go back to this camp as a voltage drop is danger for my rv appliances. Stay away from this place.

Very narrow roads and sites. Our site was not level, very hilly. Cable television was not working properly. Not worthy of a Good Sam Park. We will not go back to this campground.

The access to this Campground (I did not say RV Park) was very tricky for our Motor Home; it was a narrow, twisting and turning road wide enough for only one vehicle to pass in most places. It also had a lot of low-hanging foliage.
We reserved a space for a 43' motor home with 50 Amp Service. Our site was actually for something considerably smaller and was equipped with a 30 Amp Receptacle (I did not say 30 Amp service). When we plugged in we barely had enough power to power the battery charger. Line 1 read a whopping 103 volts, Line 2 read 106 volts.
Cable TV was almost non-existent. Lots of snow and little image. Since the campground is in the wilderness, Satellite service wasn't an option.
Our local antenna was of no use to us due to the remoteness of the location.

Appeal Rating Not worthy to be a Good Sam Park. More of a permanent dilapidated pull behind park with very small not level spaces and way over priced at $35 daily. Dirty bathrooms, office/store hardly ever open and large Hickory Nut trees to park under. Falling Hickory nuts Keep us awake all not to mention the possible damage to our rig and pull behind. Will never stay there again.

Owner and manager were very nice. Roads were very narrow but check in with the manager and he will guide you to the best spot for your rig. Since we had full hook ups we didn't bother checking out the bathrooms. Very quite and good views of the mountains. Close to Cherokee and several other attractions. The owner stopped by a couple of times just to check on us and make sure we didn't need anything. We enjoyed getting to know him.
