Made three day reservation, but had to unexpectedly extend the day prior to departure due to engine mechanical (cylinder misfire) problem. Extremely problematic to find a repair shop able to work on RVs or even to get repairs done short notice. The facility staff recommended a mobile RV repair option that showed up within 24 hours and fixed the problem within two hours. The Portal RV front desk staff did wonders in getting us the two extra days as they were completely booked.

We stayed 3 nights to visit some attractions in the area. Reserved site 37 but didn’t pay the lock fee so was assigned a different site. The park is located on N Main St (US-191) along busy congested multi lane city streets at the North end of town. The interior roads are paved. The interior roads and turns are sufficient to maneuver larger RV’s for an experienced driver. The sites are generally level and flat but saw some tires off the ground to get level. The parking pads are a mixture of... Read More

The parking pads are a mixture of gravel or concrete depending on the type of site. The sites are a mixture of pull throughs and back ins. Some of the P/T sites were long enough to stay connected but others were shorter. Sites had sufficient room for opening slides. There appeared to be some extended stay sites. Not much distance between the sites as the extended awning was within inches of the neighbor & just enough room for tow vehicle parking. They have full hook ups – water, electricity (50/30/20 AMP), & sewer. The utility connections were about mid site. Sewer fitting at ground level so establishing a downhill flow would be dependent upon discharge point. There was an outside table in poor condition. Brought it to the attention of the office staff upon our arrival. Was told they would attend to it quickly but the table was never changed out. There are a few trees scattered throughout the park and around the perimeter so satellite reception would be dependent upon your site and dish configuration. Was able to receive DISH programming using a portable dish sitting on the ground. Park brochure lists 64 cable channels. Scan showed 64 analog & 88 digital OTA channels. The park provided password protected WiFi was adequate for checking email and gathering travel information. Didn’t try the NET10 phone so don’t know about reception. There are a couple designated fenced pet areas in the park with a grass surface. There were a couple of bag dispensers/waste collection stations around the park. Dumpsters available for disposal. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park’s roads. We didn’t use the showers/restrooms or laundry. Probably wouldn’t stay here again if returning to the area. TIP: Arches NP was testing an entry reservation system. Had to have a timed reservation to enter the park. Didn’t like it. Didn’t seem to accomplish the goal of the system as there was still waiting in line and no parking at popular spots in the park.
