Sunset Isle RV Park is a nice little place. Nothing fancy, but everything you need. Office and staff are efficient. Grounds are worn down a bit sites are gravel with scraggly grass in between. Hit or miss with how much space you get. Along the waterfront it is very tight…couldn’t open our awning due to trees and our back neighbors were essentially sitting under our slide out. But other sites seemed to have a little more room. We were fortunate to check-in on a Monday when the park was fairly empty. Took several attempts to negotiate the back in and only able to do so by pulling into/through empty sites. After the park filled, no way. Sites are also short, which means trucks parked sideways in front of the rigs, reducing maneuver area even more.
Small clubhouse, small showers, but clean and tidy. Main selling point is it’s location on the waterfront with a dozen sites backing right up to the tidal bay/marsh. Kayak launching very easy. Tide range 2-3 feet with many exposed mud bars at low tide.
Cedar Key is a quirky, quaint cute little village that blends old Florida laid back with a bit of touristy tack. Only one market in town, otherwise a 45 minute drive to closest real grocery. But the market had pretty much all you’ll need…watch the produce tho…they get deliveries on Mondays and by Friday some of the fresh isn’t so fresh. Several waterside fish houses on Dock Street which is about a block long and has half a dozen eateries.
Small, quiet campground, but too tightly packed together campsites. Gravel pads, dirt roads. Could be neater. Electrical pedestals appear fairly new. They are rebuilding the clubhouse. Very convenient to downtown Cedar Key. Very friendly and helpful staff. $45.00 per night with the GS discount. My Verizon Mi-Fi is showing two bars LTE and my iPhone is reading -114 db LTE. Campground has Wi-Fi, but it is extremely slow. We enjoy the laid back, friendly atmosphere of Cedar Key.

Spotlight: Levy County/Cedar Key
Known as the Nature Coast, Cedar Key and the surrounding islands and mainland of Levy County don't have many man-made attractions. Nature is the star in this historic region of backwater creeks running through primitive cypress wetlands. Swimming holes like the Blue Grotto and Manatee Springs evoke memories of rope swings and slick rock, the water playgrounds of yesteryear....
