Camped out this weekend at Timberland Lake Campground in Cream Ridge NJ. It was a little pricey but equal to surrounding RV resorts. The grounds were not really kept up and worn out and showed its age. The lots were not level at all, my auto levelers could not level out my RV without having to lift my entire front end off the ground. I saw many other RVs with their fronts up in the air and some on wood under the tires. I had to spend 3 days with things rolling down the RV and 2 nights sleeping on a tilt. Don't really want to bash any camp sites just wanted to share my experience as others make choices of camp sites.

This place is nasty, run-down, poorly managed and gross. This is mostly a park for full-time residents as 95% of the campers have full communes set up with permanent structures. Once you get past the sign with spelling errors, dumpster area that is covered in trash (clearly, no one keeps the area clean), sort your way through an archaic intercom system, you are greeted with what can only be called a dump where old stuff goes to die. It is crowded with garbage and clutter. The path to the office is through a nasty maze of other old campers with piles of garbage strewn about. The sites are mostly dirt/mud and some gravel but are nowhere near level. Water tastes like sewer and the staff is just rude, dismissive and unfriendly. The sites on the lake are only 30 AMP. Trees are WAY overgrown so getting into the sites without requiring a new paint job is challenging. In the end, this place could be great but clearly is managed poorly. Good Sam's rating on this park is so far off the mark that it truly causes me to question their objectivity. Stay someplace, any place, else ESPECIALLY if you have a Class A motorhome.

Who at Good Sam rates these places?? We came here based on those ratings. They should be HALF of what they currently are! We travel full-time in our motorcoach, we have stayed in 68 different places in the past 12 months. This is the worst condition place we have stayed yet. When you first arrive to register, you have to take a narrow walkway to get to the office that passes between two ratty campers whose sites look like a frat house yard sale exploded. NOT A GOOD 1st IMPRESSION. I read reviews from 2015 talking about the roads having HUGE potholes, their still here in 2019. This place is nothing more than a dumpy trailer park. We went for a walk and counted no less than 6 obviously abandoned units, these derelicts have been untouched for no less than three years. The maintenance crew spends most of its time sitting around in the office. We told them three days ago that their water line at our site was leaking badly, they never came to look at it. We decided we have enough and we are cutting our stay here off early and leaving.

We hold season passes for Great Adventure and decided to spend a week at Timberland. The pool is very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful and that is about where the good part ends. There are very large potholes throughout the "lower" lake section of the resort and it made pulling a trailer very hazardous. The "Log Cabin" bathhouse was cleaned once the entire week we were there. Even after bringing it to the attention of 2 different staff members, the issue was not addressed and it just became more disgusting. We went "Bathhouse shopping" in the park to find the cleanest one to use and it happened to be in the more seasonal "upper" lake section. Guests should not have to do this. The location was perfect but the pothole and bathhouse issue is a huge deal breaker for us. We will not be back.

The road coming into the campground is very narrow. Not sure if campers coming both ways would fit and there wouldn't be any spot to pull over. Had to push a code into the gate which dialed a phone # to enter the campgrounds every time. It was kind of a pain because they didn't answer the phone all the time. After registering in the office, we had to wait about 10 mins to get to our site due to a delivery truck blocking the road. The pool was nice and the store was well stocked. The have a rule about not having outdoor speakers, but they should enforce it. Three out of the five nights during our stay, there were loud obnoxious campers playing loud music and singing and yelling all evening. When I mentioned this to a worker in the store, she said we had to call a phone # to complain and they would send someone up. The next night the loud music continued so I called and in about a half hour they got quieter. The following night it was pouring and we thought it'd be quiet but they were worse than the previous two nights. I called once and nothing happened. After calling a second time, which was close to 11, they got quieter. Other campgounds have people riding around and checking on the campgrounds, maybe they should start doing that. It is really close to Great Adventure and beaches, but I don't know if that is enough reason to stay here again,

I’d first say that the staff here is VERY nice and always pleasant. But — the campground looks NOTHING like the pictures on the website. It appears that at least 75% of the sites are occupied by full/time (either seasonal or year-round) residents. The units on either side of ours had debris and belongings scattered all over. There were shards of glass all around the electric hookup - the sewer was hard to find hidden under bushes. Unfortunately it rained which only exacerbated the mud and potholes on all the paths. We didn’t use the bathhouse because, frankly, we went but stopped & turned around at the door. This is a huge property that could be nice with some basic maintenance. Six weeks of traveling this summer and this was by far our worst experience. Oh and in this day and age - conferste flags hanging from many sites? C’mon people!

Upon arrival during dark hours, lighting non existent making it difficult to navigate to our site. Roads not paved, narrow and in poor condition. A lot of permanent residents with older units with cluttered and unkepted yards. No laundry facilities and the nearest laundromat is at least 14mi away. On a positive note, the staff was nice and they had a well supplied general store and the pool was big and clean.

We pulled in late at night and I didn't have a ground guide out so I ran over the sewage drain and broke it. We left early the next day. I called to report that I had broken their drain. They called back and said they would fix at no charge. This is first class!! We were in a hurry to get the New England so we didn't see the campground or use any facilities but I thought I should let people know about this "GOOD EXPERIENCE."

Roads rutted and full of potholes.... most sites are full time....junky... sites are no where near level.... rules are irrelevant.... many young kids driving golf carts... noisy.... rude campers.... golf carts racing and skidding in the sandy roads... not a place for relaxing and enjoying a stay.

If you're looking for a Campground, this is a must try. Friendly and Helpful Staff, Very reasonable prices, lots of activities through out the weekend for kids, great fishing, and clean pool. Sites are all pretty good sized and diverse depending on the section you take, open pull throughs to more private wooded sites. Again I list this as a Campground Not a Resort, gravel roads not paved, sites are dirt and grass not concrete.... Its Camping how we enjoy it but I know some people like more of a parking lot type setting not woods.
