Wow! This campground is a hidden gem! Located on the Feather river I was able to try my hand at gold panning. I had no luck but a little boy who was with his dad discovered a nugget, $50-100 is what someone said. They have clean modern restrooms and private hot showers as well. The campsites each have a pic-nick table, an approved fire ring, and a huge food locker or bear box. Many of the campsites have electrical hookups and more than a few were wheelchair accessible. I was able to use my cell phone here which I can't always do in the National Forest. There is a little country store just a stones throw away and a nice trail through the woods to it,they have beer and more. There is plenty to do like fishing, hiking, swimming, rock-climbing, kayaking, relaxing and of course gold panning. If you like trains (and I do) you can hear the whistle blow but in a nice way. Very easy access from highway 70. What a great place to kick it and relax. I was able to see a Bald Eagles nest as well as deer and wild turkeys. Oh yeah there is a lot going on in the area from concerts to kayak flotillas and Volkswagen van doing of some sort to name a few. I'm going back as soon as the season opens again. It never seemed to full which is a shame since it looks as if they have just rebuilt the entire campground.
