Decent value for the price, BUT, was told to ask for military discount when I got there and I did. But no change in the charge. The ladies at check in were nice, but seemed unfamiliar and confused with the computer check in process. When I ask for propane bottle at check in, the lady qualified was out getting her hair done, so I left my bottle. It was finally filled and delivered to my campsite B63 at about 5:45pm. Driving in to the campground, take the main gate. The back gate road is very steep... Read More

Driving in to the campground, take the main gate. The back gate road is very steep and winding and you will have to make a hard left turn very close to the gate shack. At the main gate by the equestrian sites, be very careful as the gate shack has a large overhang and can damage your RV if you get too close. The sign to the RV sites was removed when I got there (5 miles from the main gate), so be on the alert for the road. Yes, the B loop sites are very strangely numbered and not in sequence. Ours, B63, was long enough for my 34' 5th wheel and I did not need to unhook. Not sure if I would stay there again, but was peaceful during the off season. We camped at Oak Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Another example of great state parks in Alabama! Our ten year old grandson loved the park. It was nice and relaxing. We will be back again!

Stayed here for a few days to visit Barber Motorsports Park. Beautiful park. The camping facilities are okay. My spot was paved, but did not have much room that was level. Sites are spaced well apart. Restroom facilities had just one shower and toilet stall, but there are several throughout the campground.

This is an Alabama State Park campground located 10-12 miles south of Birmingham. Convenient to shopping and restaurants from either the south or north park entrance. We spent 3 nights on the A side of the campground. Nice, tranquil setting. We were assigned a "pull along" site for our motorhome and toad. I wanted to get a site where trees would not block my roof mounted satellite and they gave me a site that worked well, however, the pad had deep tracks of broken asphalt. Full hookups with... The overall park is beautiful. The restroom building near our campsite had standing water in both of the women's stalls for the entire 4 nights we stayed. The buildings are very old and in need of new fixtures. I will stay here again, but I will make sure that my hot water heater in my TT is working and avoid using their shower buildings.

We stayed for two nights. Unfortunately it rained quite a bit of the time. The site we had was not very level but manageable. The park looked very pretty, but due to the rain we did not see much of it. As other have mentioned, the bathroom/shower are old, however the one we used was clean. I also gave the showers an extra star because these old showers still have great water pressure and plenty of hot water! Better water pressure that any campsite or hotel I have stayed at in years.

Oak Mountain State Park is a beautiful park with many activities available ( bicycling, paddle boats, archery, horse back riding, BMX track). The staff were all very helpful. The sites were adequate. The only complaint are the restrooms. They are antiquated and in need of repair. The restroom near our camping site was not handicapped accessible.
