Appeal Rating My am unsure how Ahoy RV Resort qualifies as a Resort. With 155 RV Spots this RV Park only has one bathhouse for men and one bathhouse for women. I can only talk to the men bathhouse that bathhouse had one commode, two showers and did not get cleaned on any kind of a schedule. The facilities the store is very small and not well stoked, the pool looks much larger on there website than is really is and the lake is more of a drainage pond than a lake. How ever Ahoy RV Park's lots are spacious and well maintained.

Appeal Rating Spent Labor Day weekend here. Great resort with excellent staff. Pads are well thought out with plenty of room to back in. Well maintained property with clean restrooms and a fun pool area. Our dog really enjoyed the dog park and grandkids loved the pool slides. Some reviews complained about the gravel road leading into the park but we did not have any issues. The road was better than many state highways we travel from time to time.

Appeal Rating Wonderful resort. Amazing owners who care about their guests. Water issue mentioned in another review was taken care of promptly and no one was left without water for very long. They worked until after dark to make sure everyone was taken care of. Great facilities with a clubhouse where we have game nights, socials, card nights, etc. anyone visiting south Alabama should check this place out. One of the best we have been to.

Thank you so much for the great review. I can't tell you how reassuring it is for the staff to know that our efforts are noticed.

Appeal Rating We spent six enjoyable weeks "camping" at this brand new resort. We only rated the facility four stars (five stars on everything else) because things are still being built out-we have no doubt that once completed Ahoy RV Resort will be first class all the way. The owners and staff are very friendly, accommodating, helpful and extremely hard working. When in the area again, we will certainly stay at Ahoy!

The last 1/4 mile b4 entry is UNPAVED. During our stay a huge underground water leak at our service site occurred. We were not notified to move our rv. The huge trench beside at our site was found after dark in 53 degree weather. Our water was connected to a NONPOTABLE garden hose. We called mgmt the next am , 4 men came and took 2 hours to clean mud from our rv . Purple pvc primer dye covered our water hose. After lots of yelling mgmt agreed to comp 1 day and NOT to replace our hose. Not what you expect for $65 a day.

I am sorry Ms. Holcombe feels this way about Ahoy. However, I would like the reader to know the efforts we made to ensure that the Holcombes and other guests were not inconvenienced after an unfortunate water leak near their site. The fact of the matter is the staff at Ahoy did everything they could and were successful in providing continued service to the site. In the end, it was apparent that nothing we could do would make Ms. Holcombe happy. Here are the facts:
Feb 1
-The 1/4 mile of city road is crushed and compacted limestone, not dirt and mud. It is almost as hard as concrete.
-We discovered the water leak around 5pm on Feb 1.
-The Holcombe's were not home
-We immediately started digging to repair the leak to ensure service to all our guests.
-Thanks to our dedicated staff of 4, we worked 4 hours past closing time till 10pm but failed to fix the leak.
-We decided to restore service as best we could for the night and finish in the morning. To that end, we went to Home Depot and purchased 150' of BRAND NEW garden hose to bring water service to the Holcombes from another site. Sewer, cable, and electrical were unaffected.
-We placed 3 (not 1) caution cones around the hole to ensure safety.
-Upon finishing, the Holcombe's still had not made it home but they had full service to their RV.
Feb 2
-Within 5 minutes of arrival we had a phone message from Ms Holcombe yelling and screaming about the situation.
-Myself and 3 staff members went to visit Ms. Holcombe where she proceeded to scream at us for the next 45 minutes.
-I tried to explain the situation and apologized profusely even though I felt we did all we could and she was never without service. Ms. Holcombe didn't want any explanations. She just wanted to vent.
-Her water and sewer hose, cable, electrical cord and to a small degree, the side of her RV had gotten dirty through our efforts. We worked for 30-45 minutes and had everything cleaned. There was a couple of small blotches of purple primer on her water hose that we were unable to remove but this did not in any way affect it's ability to be able to be used.
-All the while, Ms Holcombe ranted over our shoulders as we worked. It was quite abusive to my employees and distracting to other guests who walked by in disbelief at Ms. Holcombe's over reactions. A big thank you to all the guests who encouraged us to keep our chin up.
At the end of the day, Ms. Holcombe never lost service. She sustained no damages other than a couple of relatively small purple stains on her hose. Ms. Holcome was compensated $65 for her still usable hose. My staff went through extraordinary efforts under difficult circumstances (as we will always do) to ensure guest satisfaction. Nothing would have made Ms. Holcombe happy.
