We lucked up and got a walk up site for the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. There are 3 sections to this campground: Monthly, Extended, and nightly. All of the nightly spots were reserved, but if they have open spots in the extended section they will book them out for holidays. We lucked up and got a walk up site for the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. There are 3 sections to this campground: Monthly, Extended, and nightly. All of the nightly spots were reserved, but if they have open spots in the extended section they will book them out for holidays. We ended up in site 89, a back in site which is in the "extended" stay section. (Note that there was ample room for our tow vehicle and camper in the site.) This trip consisted of me and my wife, and our 2 medium-large sized dogs. Worth noting, this is our 3rd trip ever in our RV! We have a 21' Starcraft Autumn Ridge travel trailer (about 25' bumper to tongue) and tow with a Pathfinder. So we are still learning things, but in the 1.5 months that we have owned our camper, we have learned a lot and gotten quite familiar and comfortable with pulling it, setting it up and living in it. All sites (save the few primitive tent sites) appear to be concrete pads with FHU. The concrete pads are pretty level, although I did use a single layer of Lynx leveler blocks under one side to get the camper dead level. Worth noting, after backing in I did find several lose screws, and pieces of rusted metal scraps in our drive. (Maybe I should be checking our drive better for now on?) The electric pedestal at our site checked out with a multimeter, and so far has worked fine that we can tell (no black or brown outs). The water seems to have decent pressure, runs clean, but also has a steady, slow dripping leak at our particular spigot. I noticed that many of the spigots are wrapped in duct tape, but they work. Because of this though the site below us keeps a pretty wet front yard. To be fair though, it has been raining quite a bit, but the area below the spigot seems to always stay wet. The grounds are great! The grass is well maintained at all the sites (except for in the small section where the hook up are... it is overgrown a bit in there). Being right near the Ross Barnett Reservoir there are geese and ducks everywhere, so watch out for lots of poop near the water! All other tenants have been welcoming, friendly and even offered help should we need it. We have friended our neighbors in the site next to us and even had dinner with them last night. Very friendly surroundings! We even asked them to keep an eye out on our camper for a couple of hours Friday morning as we had to leave our 2 dogs at the camper, which they happily did... and nothing ever happened! The staff was friendly and accommodating. Very comfortable with their job, which also made them honest... not to be confused with rude, but honest. To be fair, I overheard a phone conversation and felt bad for the lady behind the desk... Either way, they helped us right along with getting a site and made sure we felt welcome. We paid $75 for 3 nights on Memorial Day weekend! Not on the water, but we aren't complaining at all! I expected to pay that much or more per night, and the fact that it is clean, friendly and FHU makes it even better! I did not personally use the restrooms, but my wife did. She said they are clean, but they only had 2 showers in the restroom area we were near (1 normal, and 1 handicap). There was only a white (slightly see-through) simple shower curtain to change, store clothes/towels/etc.. and shower behind, which made it a little tight. She said it did have good hot water and good shower pressure though. Most of the roads throughout the campground are paved well, however, the extended stay area that we are in seems to be a little old. There is a huge rut in one of the roads that we will make sure to avoid when leaving. I did see a police officer at the office, however, I never noticed them driving/patrolling the campgrounds. I noticed a guy on a golf cart that drove through daily, checking sites, but this was it. However, everyone around seemed to be pretty nice and honest... We never felt that there was any reason to be concerned about anything. We also felt that our dogs were welcomed in this campground, which is important for us. We saw several others with pets of their own, and a few people came up and asked to set our dogs. There is an area near our site that is a good spot to let the dogs run around (leashed) and do their business and is not in anyone's yard. They have also included a trash can for poop, complete with doggie bags (although, we did bring our own). We felt that this is a pet friendly area, assuming pets are properly managed while here. Then there is also a pool, basketball court, a laundry mat, and maybe some other things, however, we did not visit or use those area's, so we cannot comment on them. Although, our neighbors stated that the laundry mat worked well, and it was close to the pool... so she would put clothes in the washer then lay at the pool till time for them to go into the drier, then lay out at the pool again. It sounded like a good set up and had we not been so busy with other things, as well as the frequent rain storms, we would have liked to check the pool area out. Overall, we would give this campground about a 4.25. It's clean, friendly and FHU. It's right near a Kroger (for groceries) and a slew of grocery stores. We would knock a quarter of a star off for the restrooms just being meh, no fire pit at the sites, no place to hang a lantern or light in the front yard, the big rut in the road near our site and the fact that it is a little more crowded than we are used to (keep in mind though, this is only our 3rd trip with a camper). These things didn't necessarily take away from our experience, but we would really liked to have had a fire pit to build a fire... I am not sure if it is to help maintain clean grounds, or due to some code set by the city... Anyway, we would definitely come back to this campground if we are in the area, and have already suggested it to several friends.

Great campground on the Reservoir. site was wide and pretty level. I was in a site next to the bot ramp and it had a new concreate pad and electrical post. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

We've always enjoyed staying at this campground when in the Jackson, MS area. This campground is on the Ross Barnett Reservoir and typically has a few sites "on the water." Very good security here so that everyone enjoys their stay. Has it's own private boat launch area with parking area for boats & trailers. I didn't rate the restroom facilities as I've never used them in all the years I've visited. I travel in a 45' diesel pusher typically towing a full size pickup truck and find the campground... I didn't rate the restroom facilities as I've never used them in all the years I've visited. I travel in a 45' diesel pusher typically towing a full size pickup truck and find the campground BIG RIG friendly. Office staff is outstanding & will try to accommodate your needs! Enjoy!
