I only gave this campground four stars because it isn't one of the campgrounds with mini golf, full hook ups, and etc. The name says it all, "Wilderness". There is space between campsites with trees and privacy and it is a quiet campground. The people are very friendly and helpful. Kids will really enjoy the playground and pool. It is also very pet friendly. The bathrooms and laundry were very clean and well taken care of. We will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful experience. Campsites arranged to maximize privacy. Services at our site were on opposite side, a consequence of previous owner's construction. Current owner had additional hose and cables available, but not needed. This is a beautiful setting. Quiet, fragrant with the evergreens and very picturesque. The bathhouses were immaculate and everything in good repair. The owner was especially helpful as we arrived and throughout our stay. This NOT a luxury campground, although there... Read More

This NOT a luxury campground, although there is a playground and a very nice in-ground pool. If you want all the bells and whistles, this isn't the place for you. But if, like us, you treasure the sounds of the birds, the rustle of the breeze through the trees, the sight of the Milky Way, like a whitewash stroke across the clear night sky, then you should definitely check this out. They offer a small number of excursions, and the moose expedition we took was memorable. The scenery, under the shoulders of Mount Katahdin, was spectacular. Three of us in the 4WD truck left the campground at 5 PM and toured some of the old logging roads in the Maine North Woods. The guide was a lifelong resident in the area and provided terrific insights into the local history. We are already planning our next visit to Wilderness Edge, really looking forward to seeing the owner again and enjoy this peaceful, restorative place.

Very clean bathrooms and showers. All private wooded site with room between each other. Campground host where great and very helpful. Great place to relax and enjoy real camping. We will be back !!

Interior roads and sites are extremely rough. Dirt and rocky. If site had been graded it would have been perfect as it was nicely wooded/forested and provided privacy. 30 min drive to Baxter State Park entrance. No sewer. 30 amp electric. Laundry had one w/d.

Very friendly owners. Clean private sites, plenty of privacy. Real clean rest rooms/showers. Good place to see the newest National Park.

We love this place. We have been going to Millinockett area for 10 years to view foliage and of course moose. We have stayed in all sorts of paces and recently bought travel trailer so we could have more control over stay. The setting of this campground is perfect for us-sites separated by some woods-nice layout of site. The owners are very friendly and helpful--we will definitely stay again

This campground has new owners (excellent hosts) who has been making improvements throughout the season. With that said, this campground still needs some work to make it great. All of the roads are gravel and in pretty rough shape. You will need to go slow and be careful with the holes and rocks. We stayed in site 8 which was private as it faced the forest, but it was not set up properly. The electrical post and water were on the wrong side of the camp site. All of the roads are gravel and in pretty rough shape. You will need to go slow and be careful with the holes and rocks. We stayed in site 8 which was private as it faced the forest, but it was not set up properly. The electrical post and water were on the wrong side of the camp site. Not to mention that I had to park parallel to the road as my 30 foot trailer did not fit in the site as a back-in site. (Many of the sites on this stretch of the campground had the same set up and campers were parked in the same manner). The electrical outlet was upside down, which did not allow me to plug in my surge protector. This would be a simple fix and should be one of the items to be changed. Be sure you have a long electrical cord and a long hose as you will need to pull it under your camper in order to reach the hook-ups. The bathroom and the grounds were clean. The pool was nice and refreshing after our hike in Baxter State Park. I might return to this campground in a few years once some of the improvements are made.
