My parents and I stayed here for 4th of July weekend. The site we had was in the field fairly close to the main road, and fairly small compared to other campgrounds I have been to. I have a 39’ fifth wheel and while I had plenty of length to work with I almost could not open the slides with how close together the patio and hookups were. Each site in my section did come with a wooden patio/deck however with its placement and how I had to park my camper it was more in the way than anything. All major... Read More

I have a 39’ fifth wheel and while I had plenty of length to work with I almost could not open the slides with how close together the patio and hookups were. Each site in my section did come with a wooden patio/deck however with its placement and how I had to park my camper it was more in the way than anything. All major roads in the campground we’re paved which is nice. That also leads to kids going faster on their bikes though. The bathrooms, while clean and stocked are tiny as well. The doors are so close to the toilet that if you do any type of stretching motion you are now tripping the person walking by. Also the doors are not large enough. I’m 5’6” and when standing my eyes are above the top of the doors. The showers do cost money as well to use and it looked like each bathhouse (2 on property) only had 1-2 showers per gender each. The campground is secured by a gate, but we were not allowed 2 keys with our 2 vehicles and were given attitude when my mother and I returned without the gate key as we left it with my father so he could go some place different. The overall atmosphere that I got was that this campground is geared more toward retirees than families. There is no pool or swimming spot. Activities they had a band one night and lobster rolls the other but that was it all weekend on a holiday weekend. Payment is cash or check only, no credit card. It is the first campground I have been to where it was quiet by dark, which did make it easier to fall asleep. Each site has its own trash can in a nice fenced in enclosure for it close to the edge of the road. While this seems like a good thought, however there are a couple of caveats. While walking our two dogs we would end up stopping at least 10 times to smell all the different trash cans where other dogs had left their mark. These also now serve as another obstacle to maneuver around when backing into and pulling out of your site. I had to pull forward and offset myself 3 times when backing in and 2 times when pulling out in order to clear the trash can and patio/deck. My preference would have been a couple of dumpsters per section of the campground, as well as a couple of public trash cans scattered in between. Lastly the entrance to the campground from the road is fairly steep. I make sure I have decent clearance on my rig as I have had to take it thru a field (not a campground field but a littoral hayfield) for storage. I also use the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch so I get a lot more flexibility too when it comes to the connection between the truck and camper. When departing the angle and elevation change is so steep I was probably 1” away from my tailgate and camper contacting (normally 8+” of clearance). I know I heard at least 2 other rigs drag their rear bumper on the way in and I’m sure it is a common occurrence here. While I’m sure there are worse horror stories than this, I still do not plan on going back here with my current setup and with the current layout of the campground.

We loved this campground. It’s not the fanciest campground you will ever stay in but it gives you a great feel of the area! If you can stay down by the water, it is a lovely Maine view. Truly the friendliest campers we have met on our 5 week trip! We have a 40 foot 5th wheel and had to stay up in where the larger campers stay but we had a very nicely landscaped wooden deck spot. Easy access to all the small coast towns! Spaces are close together but just made it easier to make friends!

This is a nice campground. Very quiet and great setting on the water. The only reason I would give a lower rating is one of the staff is not a nice person. Got in late Friday night, settled in fine. No instructions to swing by office. Second day the lady came flying down to our site on her golf cart and proceeded to scold us for not checking in. A simple "hey, could you swing by the office to sign your papers" would have been perfectly fine but she chose to be hateful about it. We just pulled... Read More

We just pulled in from a day of exploring and hadn't even seen the note on the door yet. Likely not going to consider this campground in the future.

The best campground we stayed at on our trip to Maine, we actually put in for an extra night but had to leave to return for a funeral. The sites are very spacious, shaded and pretty. We loved our site and the privacy it offered. The campground itself was beautiful. We took daily walks around the grounds and our dog loved the open field to run in. I say raise the price a couple bucks a night and offer free showers. The main bathhouse while not terrible could definitely use some updating. Overall, we had a great stay and hope to return in the future

This was the best RV park I encountered on a road trip from Texas to Maine and back! Helpful and friendly staff, nice campsites among the trees, just off the highway but without significant traffic noise, and just 3 miles from Boothbay Harbor. They even operate a free shuttle into Boothbay Harbor. The facilities were very good, including a `rec room' with good live music on Saturday night! If I am ever in the area again, this will definitely be home base.

8 nights at Shore Hills. Warm greeting when we arrived, our site was ready for us, just perfect. Wooded, nice and level, neat gravel surface, exceptional layout, picnic table, fire ring. 3-point hookup was accessible and everything worked. They run a shuttle to Boothbay Harbor at $2/person. We noticed a LOT of Class C units in and out of our area without toads, so the shuttle was handy for them. The campground is clean, everything works, nice paint on all the buildings. WIFI went down in our area of the campground one night, but they got it back up and running early the next morning. WIFI and cable TV are included, not extra. We enjoyed the steam locomotive whistle during the day from Boothbay Railway Village across the street, which seems to be a popular destination. Note: Payment is cash or check only, no credit cards. They do take Good Sam discounts. We were in our travel trailer, and we look forward to our next visit. Stayed June 2016, traveled with family

We ended up staying an extra day because the staff and owners were so nice. The park was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The views of the tidal basin are burned into my memory forever. I LOVED this site. I am a veterinarian and can easily spot animal lovers. We brought our 2 dogs on the trip (a basset and corgi mix). The staff loved them and actually came to visit them . It was BY FAR the best experience we had during our entire 3,000 mile journey.

AAA Campground. Sites are beautiful and very accessilble. Grounds are kept immaculate with trash pick up daily at each site. Had trouble with the INTERNET service at first, but Staff member was there ASAP and very cordially fixed the issue. (Since I am somehat handicapped, I did not use the showers on site which apparently is for a fee. There, I honestly can not give a true rating.) Hope to return again.
