This is a rustic campground primarily for tent camping. There are a very few number of spaces suitable for TTs, even less for RVs. Other than a tent, a TC may be the best bet for staying here. Read the site descriptions very carefully on the DNR site. They are very detailed about the type of equipment that will work. We stayed in a 19' ( 24' overall) TT and I don't think I would want anything larger. We were able to squeeze in, but it took a few tries. The sites are not very level so bring... Read More

We stayed in a 19' ( 24' overall) TT and I don't think I would want anything larger. We were able to squeeze in, but it took a few tries. The sites are not very level so bring blocks & chocks.
Once you are in place...this is an AMAZING campground for being outdoors. Extremely quiet. No hook-ups so running a generator may not be an option if you don't want to be "that guy". Solar is a big help, especially portable to get it out of the shade.
This is a perfect place to go camping that will make you feel like you are really getting away. Hearing the lake, sitting by the fire...this is definitely not an "RV park". The appeal to this campground is the great outdoors. We stayed in late August and never needed to break out the bug spray. Maybe we lucked out, maybe because its on a breezy peninsula, but shocked how few bugs there were. I've heard a south wind does bring out the black flies however.
The lighthouse is a close walk and great for exploring. A bit of a drive back down to Northport & Leland, but worth it for an afternoon excursion back to civilization.
No bathhouse available but vault toilets were the cleanest I've ever seen. No smells, mud or bugs. Good for what it is.
If you know what to expect at this campground, its perfect. The cleanest and most scenic rustic campground I've visited. If you aren't expecting such a rustic experience, you may be in for a rude awakening.
