C'mon Good Sam... this place is horrible! C'mon Good Sam... this place is horrible! From the moment my wife and I stopped for a one night passing-through stay until we were finally able to get out of Fort Smith-Alma RV Park it was a disaster. First, we had called ahead for a reservation. When I went into the office I was "greeted" by an elderly couple who appeared as though I was bothering them from their afternoon TV show. While checking, the elderly couple start arguing with the lady half tearing into the older gentleman-right in front of me. I felt bad for the old guy. Next we are given directions to our camp site that was supposed accommodate our 40 foot 5th wheel toy hauler. After a few tight turns and re-positioning the 5th wheel more than once we were able to get parked. This place was so scary I didn't bother to unhook the trailer from our pickup. We were traveling with our small dog and throughout the course of the evening we took our dog for a walk. Unfortunately, each time we did we had to cautiously look outside our camper to make sure the "neighbor's" dog wasn't outside running freely around our campsite leaving poop everywhere. Yes, that really happened... Finally, the next morning came and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Unfortunately, we couldn't out of the "pull-through" site the grumpy old woman had put us in. Based on the narrow path and a sharp U-turn leading out of our site, I had to back our 40 foot trailer a couple of hundred yards down a hill just to get out of this place. So... If you enjoy being "greeted" by some old, cantankerous people, having your camp site filled with dog poop, not being able to freely get out of your pull-through site, and staying amongst mainly of permanent residents living in not so well-kept RVs and mobile homes this place is for you! Do yourself a favor and keep driving and don't be fooled by the Good Sam ratings of this place.

I have been looking for a place on western edge of Arkansas . Thi sis about 7 hours from Amarillo. We pulled in and the ladies in the office were very helpful. We had a pull through that was nicely sized. Learned that late afternoon in Arkansas is humid so a quick trip to the pool to cool off. They have a small lake on the property. You can fish - we did not have the time. Quiet staying there. Yes I would return to this park in the future.

This place was very disappointing. It was advertised as Full Hookup w/cable. The area is riddled with stored campers and mobile homes. Some of the mobile homes have occupants who allow their dogs to park day and night. The kids who live in the mobile homes, race around on their ATVs. The spot we had was so overgrown with weeds you could hardly see the stones. The cable was non-existence. After an hour scan, it only pulled in 8 channels only 3 worked. The three channels showed the top-box needed to be updated. We ended up using our antenna which got more channels than the poor pathetic cable. We didn't feel comfortable staying there so we left as soon as we could the next day. I should have read the RV reviews before booking this place. The only reason we reserved this place was that the rating was good on the Good Sam website. I don't understand how Good Sam could give this place a 9/9.5/9 rating.

I did not stay overnight just did a drive-thru. I was not overly impressed with this campground. There are mobile homes on the property or just adjacent to it, along with a private home and business. For even the Good Sam cost to stay at this park, I can find other places with better aesthetics.

Like other reviewers on here, we too had problems with the pool. In hot July, we were going out west and stopped here for 1 night. We were excited about hopping in the pool before showers after a long day of driving. Pool hours sign said we had plenty of time. We put on our swimwear and headed over only to find the gate was locked and the staff had left. I don't know why they are so weird about the pool, its not that big. Disappointing park. Keep driving.

When we came in, the campground looked well kept. The pool was supposedly open but it was locked. Our campsite was in the back with permanent campers. Our neighbor had stuff piled up all over, including on top of his camper and was very filthy. Someone, I assume the owners, used a part of woods as a dump for wheels and wood. etc. The whole area smelled like sewage. The people in the office had a grumpy attitude. Dog messes everywhere. Selected from Good Sam directory rating. BAD CHOICE. MakIng phone reservation with grumpy man was difficult; called the next day to reaffIrm and correct - he had wrong # of days. Office staff not friendly, outside staff rude. Sites for FHU 30 amp were 2nd class at best. Sewer hookup undersized, not threaded, impossible to seal and they did not care. In 3 months on the road this was the worst park we stayed in. Avoid.

Seriously a 9.5 rating for facilities? Are you kidding me...come on Good Sam we expect more out of you. This place is lost in 1982. It is in such need up improvements and upgrades. The owners house is located on the property and looks like it should be torn down. There was a huge stack of old furniture in a burn pile out by the road leading to sites that are mostly long term residents. These sites are full of old campers that look dated and run down. Arrived after office was supposed to be closed so I understand staff being somewhat rushed. Park ground could be beatiful but currently not kept up. Our site was full of tree debris as most of the park is, cigarette butts, food under pichic table, grass uncut, dog walk area bucket overflowing. Premium price for a poorly maintained grounds and sites. Could be beautiful but not as is.

This is a former KOA facility. Bathrooms were clean, but very cramped. The shower and changing area was 4' long by 24" wide. Wifi, which they advertise as limited to 4 devices per site, couldn't handle one device. Cable TV was nonexistent. Most of the people here live here full time and the park reflects it. Most sites had a lot of junk on it. The sites are level, but very cramped. I couldn't open my awning because the trailer in the next site was so close. I won't be back. I'm not sure sure why... I'm writing this from the campground on the patio next to our motorhome. Before booking our spot here we had some concerns about the negative reviews we read but this place is really nice. It's a park like setting with grass, trees, a fishing pond. It's too cold for the pool but it looks good too. The owner might be construed as being rude but we found him to be helpful with lets say a rustic charm. We've stayed all over the country and this place is as good as it gets.

I stayed a week here in September 2015. Beautiful grounds, good bluegill fishing pond, however, the owners who operate the facility are quite rude. Experienced a hostile attitude when I asked to use the pool. The sites are narrow and very tight. Basically the owners are not accommodating to the customer. If their demeanor changed I would stay again.

Absolutely horrible, I can not recommend staying here, This is not your traditional camp ground but rather a inexpensive place for transients and seasonal workers. We were put next to a trailer park, and yes its inside the RV park, NOT next to it. So many cars around the trailers we almost could not get into spot. Very uncomfortable putting your family up for a vacation in a trailer park residence front yard...awkward. The staff was very unprofessional, when making reservations we were put on hold... Most facilities in the Alma/Van Buren/Fort Smith area are rough to dismal. This was our first stay in the area and chose this park based on reviews of it when it was a KOA. We booked one night over the phone and changed that to three after looking around. This is a beautiful park set on high ground occupying half of nearly 40 acres with a large pond and an open natural field that is well mowed. This is a beautiful park set on high ground occupying half of nearly 40 acres with a large pond and an open natural field that is well mowed. Sites are crushed limestone and we saw very few leveling blocks in use. Hook-ups are a little bit crude (no fancy park boxes here) but completely adequate. Plenty of space at each site. Didn't see any problems with the larger/longer rigs negotiating the turns. Four little cabins for rent as well as spaces designated for tenters. Nice looking pool but too cool for us in late Sept. Bathrooms have been completely remodeled and are very, very nice in addition to being very, very clean. The owner/manager is very hands-on with his park and works for your repeat business. Be sure to ask him for directions to Merle's Steak House if you want a large burger or great steak dinner. We will definitely stay here again whenever we are in the area.
