Personally, I thought I had died and gone to heaven while staying for our 3 nights at this campground! When we arrived, we'd forgotten that the sites were 'primitive' meaning no services at each site, but there were water spigots every 3, 4 spaces & a well-set up dump site also, we have solar panels and low electricity needs, so that wasn't an issue either. But let me tell you about this fabulous campground/park: big spaces, level, and spread out almost buried among all the huge trees. Each space... Read More

But let me tell you about this fabulous campground/park: big spaces, level, and spread out almost buried among all the huge trees. Each space had a fire ring and table the camp host greeted us as we arrived at our space carrying bundles of wood at the ready to offer us - perfect! The park is crisscrossed with groomed walking/hiking paths bringing you deep into the forest, among cathedrals of redwoods, through small meadows of new trees, down to a large river, and along the apple orchards that border parts of the park. This time around, we did use the facilities as we didn't have a very full fresh water tank and the bathrooms and showers were excellent. We'd like to note that the showers were coin-operated and for just a few quarters gave us a fabulous, hot shower. Each building is in the middle of a large circle of camp sites allowing for ease of access for each area of camp sites. The deep peace and quiet broken only by the sounds of families having a lovely time was just wonderful. We did go for a drive to visit a couple of nearby towns, passing a couple of rather well-known wineries and stopping at a smaller one for some lovely wines. There were several places selling cider and we can only imagine what all those apples will be like come harvest time! So hope we can get back to revisit! One word of caution regarding Highway 128: parts of it are very curvy with some redwoods so close to the edge that you are quite sure they're going to take a bite of your rig - just be patient and drive carefully (we're a 32' Class A + toad).

We've been to this campground before. We like the way it's set up and the views are spectacular in the morning when the sun comes up and at night as well. It's always clean, and the staff there is wonderful and helpful. We'll be heading back there again soon.
